1874 News An announcement from the Board of 1874 Northwich F.C.

I like Barnton, has a better feel than Winsford and probably a better surface but being a realist i have same concerns as mentioned above, parking, locals , lack of cover etc. Vice chairman has said these will be answered so waiting to see the supposed solutions and what we are bringing to the party.
Cant see it improving crowds much, it didnt for vics so whats different for us?
Hope this is not the intended final place for us, too far out for a permanent home and if i wanted to watch a team at Barnton, well i could have watched the one they already have!

Just moving the barnton probably won’t boost attendances much, sure it’ll be easier to get to and you will see a small increase.

But, it a great chance and great opportunity to really push and publicise the club, and that really could make a sizeable difference

I've "liked" that sentiment Andy, but what's a "doffer"?

I am sorry but this feels like a step back than forward. Barntons ground isn’t as good as Winsford. The parking is a joke and because with my Aspergers I hate being crowded around and the stand there is way too small to not feel that. My daughter Temperance hates the Idea as her ballgirl duties she has done for the last few years will not be needed. I also takes longer to get to Barnton than Winsford.

its not possible to please everybody all the time but decisions like this are made in the best interests of the club, in my honest opinion the ONLY thing Winsford had going for it was the car park! Which isn't a reason to stay, whether some like to admit it or not we were going backwards at Winsford and maybe could have been in financial trouble over the next 3-5 years if we had stayed there, moving to Barnton is a good mid term solution until we get our own ground and yes attendances won't dramatically increase straight away but it gives us a far better chance to reach out to the people in the town (a chance we didn't and would never have in Winsford)

we're not vics and most of the town couldn't care less about them, our club has much more to offer any potential new supporters, of course we still want our own ground in Northwich but in the meantime this is a good solution imo

Appreciate your concerns Trevor, but I am sure the club will find ways to reach out to you and accommodate your needs as much as possible. And I am sure there will still be ways for Temperance to play a part, including as a ballgirl. Can't imagine we'll fill all four sides with fans. Well, not in the first few weeks anyway.

My main problem is I can’t stand at games so restricted to the Stands which isn’t big at Barnton

176 seats across two stands seems ample to me and there’s more that stand than sit at our games.

I’m comfortable with this. Not sure where the earlier comment originated from about us financially struggling in the next few years if we stayed at Winsford.

I do feel that nows the right time to move on and Winsford, under the new ownership have their own ambitions.

I don’t foresee this being our permanent residence but part of the longer term plan and gives us a foothold as close to Northwich as we’ll be. We have a huge potential population to target in Winnington Village where many of the residents are new to the area and have no family or ingrained allegiance to local teams.

This move to Barnton needs to have a well planned marketing strategy leading up to the opening home game there.

I’ve read all the previous comments and I can see there are pros and cons to this move. Personally there are more cons for me. I am not however averse to change and am willing for my mind to be changed over the next 10 months. I still do not however understand what prompted this sudden move ( perhaps I will find out in due course).
Oh and I don’t consider Barnton easier to get to.

On that point, are we realistically going to get anywhere closer to Northwich? I don't know of any land right near the town centre that we could realistically build a ground on. I might be wrong though. It's not uncommon for teams to play outside town centres these days.

My base locally is Lostock. That's 2.6 miles from the centre of Northwich but has been mentioned in the past in relation to finding a home. Is that "too far out"? For someone from Hartford that would be 5 miles away, but would they then say Lostock was "too far out"? Or vice versa - I wouldn't say Hartford would be too far out from Lostock. Hartford's 2 miles from the centre. Barnton is 2.3 miles from the centre.

I can accept the "awkward to get to" argument, mainly because of the pesky River Weaver, but have trouble with "too far out".

Dont mind playing out of the area and probably expect the final stop to be just that.
What i do consider realistic and hoped for as a final location is not playing on the doorstep of an already established team. Means we cant target the immediate fans in the area where we are playing (just like winsford!). And no matter how we help improve things Barnton is very limited.
Anyway, theres a lot to be cleared up and a long journey before we get to 'final' destinations.
Looking forward to the new challenge but given the lack of interest in non league football in general cant see much change...hope im wrong.

personally I think that the vase game showed us that there is potentially a very big interest in local football in the area, just need to give people a reason to come
