@Tez I think it's 38 games isn't it?

Beat the bottom two & we're on 38points so a PPG of 1 if we get no points from anywhere else.

Colne have one point from 33 (I think) so I'd make them favourites for 3rd bottom

Obviously we need to seek more points and I’m sure we will. The next two games Marine and Leek (?) might not see an immediate change in our fortunes, but I think if the performance picks up then that is the step in the right direction we want. No reason why we can’t pick up something from Newcastle as well as the Market Drayton and Kendal games, which would add another seven points to our present tally. A combination of draws and wins would probably get us over the line.
At worst, the 31 points already gained might be enough to avoid third from bottom, albeit it would be a very tight squeeze. I am sure though, no one in the club is relying on that?

Keep the faith ??

I have looked at the fixtures grid and some of the other clubs have much harder run-ins than us. I do expect us to win at Kendal and against Market Drayton and we should beat Newcastle Town. We may even get a couple of draws as well. We could get as many as 44 points and I don't see us getting less than 39. I just can't see Colne, Cables or Newcastle (even if they beat us) getting that many. Grid is below in case you want to have a look at it.

Play Hyde very soon. That could be a crunch game if Witton don’t get anything out of their home game with Whitby this Saturday.
Prescot will still be out of that crucial play off six as their ppg is considerably better than most other third bottom Step 4 clubs.

While Witton might be looking down the veritable barrel lying in second from bottom, they’d been safe as houses if they can make that PPG slot as they have far and away the best current playing record. It needs to be the worst PPG of the clubs from Step 4 finishing third from bottom of the pile. So don’t necessarily set your heart on a festive derby game just yet; Witton’s fate is in their own hands.

If Kendal & Market Drayton don't win tomorrow then we can't finish in the bottom 2

Market Drayton play Colne don’t they?

Witton lost again 2-0 at home to Whitby. They’re now seven points adrift of safety.

A resounding 5-0 win for Colne at Market Drayton sees them leapfrog us. Defeats for Newcastle and Prescot. We’re down to 16th four points better off still than Prescot in third bottom. Prescot play Kendal next week at home.

Currently the Step 4 third from bottom standings:
Prescot .866
Frickley. .846
———————————————
Seven Oaks. .827
Hertford .8
Witham. .785
Sutton Common .777
Magotsfield. .769
Histon. .586

Prescot Cables and Frickley presently avoiding and play-off against a Step 5 runner up.
Just to update the current standings:

Prescot .906
Seven Oaks. .870
...................
Sutton Common .857
Kempston. .838
Lincoln .793
Hullbridge. .766
Magotsfield. .740
Histon. .548

‘74 are currently 1.1

Market Drayton were relegated last night after a 4-1 defeat to Kidsgrove. They had led 1-0 until the 65th minute.

Eight games remain for us - 24 points up for grabs.

Maximum points totals:
Ramsbottom = 60
GNE = 59
Colne = 58
1874 = 57
Newcastle T = 55
Cables = 47 (due to far superior GD over Kendal they realistically need just two more points to guarantee at least 18th - the PPG position)
Kendal = 31

Run-ins:
Ramsbottom - Colne (A), Workington (H), Rylands (H), Kidsgrove (A), Kendal (H), Market Drayton (A), Trafford (H), Clitheroe (A)
GNE - Marine (H), Newcastle T (A), Cables (H), CoL (H), Clitheroe (A), Mossley (H), Kidsgrove (A)
Colne - Ramsbottom (H), CoL (A), Leek (H), Workington (A), Marine (H), Kidsgrove (H), Clitheroe (H), Linnets (A)
1874 - Leek (A), Widnes (A), Newcastle T (A), Trafford (H), Market Drayton (H), Kendal (A), Rylands (H), Mossley (A)
Newcastle T - Mossley (A), GNE (H), 1874 (H), Clitheroe (A), Linnets (H), CoL (A), Market Drayton (H), Trafford (A)
Cables - Kendal (H), Workington (H), GNE (A), Trafford (H), Linnets (H), CoL (A)

We're effectively five points above Prescot Cables if you take into account us having +15 GD over them. I think they'll struggle to get more than nine points, which would put them on 38. That would leave us needing just five - a win and two draws from eight matches - to at the very least finish above them.

Would love to see us put some real shifts in between now and the end of April to try and end up towards the top of this 'mini league'.

I see Witton have signed a 19-year-old keeper to cover Greg's 3 match ban. Dermot Mee from Man Utd, who played a few games for Linnets earlier in the season.

I believe Mr Wilkes was subject to a disciplinary hearing yesterday, does anyone know what the punishment was if any?

Really, I thought it was the first week in April?
