NPL watch

I see Witton are now in the bottom 2.

Witton have a few too many games in hand to realistically finish in the bottom two.

In a relegation scrap I'd rather have points on board than games in hand

Big 6 pointer for them this Saturday against Mickleover. Mickleover have just signed two strikers, one of them, who played for them a few years back, scored on the final day of the season in 18/19 to avoid relegation. Both will be in the squad to face and hopefully score against Witton.

Marine lost for the 3rd time in 4 games last night.

I have been surprised for a while how many fans Prescot Cables have had at every game this season. They have not had a gate below 300 and most gates are nearing 500 or above. Given their form on the pitch and size of the club I was puzzled until I did a little research.

Some good incentives there to generate more support. I like the U17 season ticket for £10. A great way of getting the youngsters into the club in the hope they become part of the future. Think the blue light scheme was probably Covid related and a one off. I like the idea of spreading the cost of the other season tickets over 3 months at the start of the season too. Food for thought ….

Witton lost another of their games in hand last night & have also lost their Chairman today.

It doesn't get much easier for them either as they host fourth-placed Scarborough on Saturday, while Nantwich (20th) welcome Ashton United (19th).

In the NPL West, Linnets could only manage a 1-1 draw at Colne on Tuesday night after going behind in the ninth minute. I suppose we can't all go up there and spank them 4-0!
:smuggrin

On Monday, Widnes put five past whipping boys Market Drayton Town - with four of those goals coming in the final 15 minutes.

In the scrap for a top ten finish, we're currently level on points with City of Liverpool going into Saturday's round of fixtures. CoL host second-placed Marine, who returned to winning ways last time out by beating Kendal Town 4-1.

We need to beat Prescot Cables (third from bottom) by at least a two-goal margin to return to a positive goal difference...

Bloody hell - from Linnets Updates on Twitter

Our fans throwing coins, bottles and cups at Workingtons players, then the massive fight inside the clubhouse, the fighting by Subway, and the police having to be called out yet again.

Worth a look at this scheme. Colne had their highest gate v Kendal who wouldn’t have taken many fans. We have back to back Saturday home games in April….food for thought! Maybe the 2nd one v Market Drayton could be a possibility?

Rylands dropped points but Marine & Workington both won.
CoL drew which is decent for us.

Prescot won again.

And above us a big 3 points for Nantwich, and Witton lost again.

Does anyone know how relegation works from the NPL Prem?
The league table appears to show 2 down & a playoff for 3rd bottom. But with NPL East, West & Midlands as feeders that doesn't seem right?
