As well as spaffing £M on shit T&T systems, awarding contracts to their cronies without following the usual competition rules etc, etc, etcBut they're still wasting £bns on the HS2.
19000 new cases reported today. Up from 14000 yesterday.Funny to see Starmer call for a full lockdown after last week criticising lockdowns.
Labours position on dealing with Covid is about as clear as their Brexit policy in the last election.
Only Party currently standing against the 10pm curfew yesterday was the Lib Dem’s. Shane’s there’s only half a dozen of them
Hang on a minute... a herd immunity policy would condemn the elderly and vulnerable to full isolation. The current lockdown doesn’t. They’re as ‘free’ as the rest of us.So much for Herd Immunity?
Bars are packed, Shops are packed and people’s mental health is in top condition in Sweden. There is no sign of a second wave there.
Life could have been like that here now if the Government didn’t wet the bed in March.
And I Hate this image of compassion that do-gooder lockdown lovers paint themselves as. This is what they’re doing to the people they claim to be caring about. No doubt they have good intentions, but I wish they’d just think about the consequences

David Davis even flabbergasted on Peston tonight re lack of penalty clauses in the T&T contracts that have been handed to the serial non performers like Serco, Crapita et al. Some consultants on £7k per day! Yes, you read it right. Effin £7k per day. Scandalous doesn’t do it justice. So long as UK is full of the irresponsible tw@s that it is - in government and amongst the general public - then there is likely no strategy that will work to stop Covid until we have a vaccine. Sweden we are not.
Sir David King ex Chief Scientific advisor on Peston appalled that we haven’t learned the lessons of last March and didn’t implement a lockdown immediately after Sage recommenced it.This situation now is nothing like March, though. Very slow growth compared to March, better treatment, better equipped, people know their own risks better than in March, and we know that the Virus is much less severe than was thought in March.
Despite all that I still think the Government over reacted in March. But with hindsight now we know there isn’t any conclusive proof that this approach works, but there is conclusive proof that there’s catastrophic collateral damage from it.

still in denial about the impact of the second wave?
You clearly don’t read things either Andy. The stats clearly show that when the lockdown was introduced last March, the number of cases, hospitalisations and deaths dropped massively.Jesus, have you read a single thing anyone has actually written?
No ones disputed that “cases“ are slowly rising. The point people are making is that quarantining the healthy, is draconian, destructive to the medium and long term health and futures of everyone. LOCKING DOWN ISNT THE ONLY WAY.
In March the World knew very little. Now we know much more. The Mortality rate for Under 70s is 0.05%.
Hide away if you wish, but you have no right to sneer at those worried about the unnecessary destruction because caused to the future physical health, mental health and financial security if everyone.

The conclusion states: “The inferred infection fatality rates tended to be MUCH LOWER than estimates made earlier in the pandemic”
But the NWCFL aren’t saying that at present. What they have done is to seek the opinions of their member clubs - an entirely reasonable step.Tweet from Ashton Town that I couldn’t agree with more.
“We at Ashton Town AFC have gone to enormous lengths, and considerable cost, to make our club COVID compliant and would find it enormously disappointing, not to say impossible to understand, if our own league @nwcfl now prevented us from playing. #UpTheTown”
It’s still something the NWCFL are considering as otherwise they wouldn’t put it to member clubs, James. But the NWCFL aren’t saying that at present. What they have done is to seek the opinions of their member clubs - an entirely reasonable step.
I would anticipate that the decision re the continuation of the league will be taken out of their hands. As more areas go into the ‘top tier’ - which I think is inevitable- then the advice re restrictions on travel between them will make it almost impossible for clubs to stage matches
That's the world wide rate. For English under 70s it's 0.27% - see page 22 of https://www.who.int/bulletin/online_first/BLT.20.265892.pdfIn March the World knew very little. Now we know much more. The Mortality rate for Under 70s is 0.05%.
We’re still talking tiny numbers. If you’re a young person, you’re more likely to drown or be involved in a road traffic accident than die of Covid. That's the world wide rate. For English under 70s it's 0.27% - see page 22 of https://www.who.int/bulletin/online_first/BLT.20.265892.pdf
Road accidents aren't contagious thoughWe’re still talking tiny numbers. If you’re a young person, you’re more likely to drown or be involved in a road traffic accident than did if Covid.
True ? but the way forward for me has to be shield the vulnerable or those who feel it.Road accidents are contagious though
I’m sure you’ve seen the news about Andy Burnham fighting against Manchester going into tier three. We’ll have to see whether it happens or not but good for him standing up for the people of Manchester and their jobs and businesses that will be further decimated by this unfair and unscientific regional lockdown approach. As he says regions in the north (no surprises they vote Labour) are being set up as the canaries in the coal mine for an experimental regional lockdown strategy that won’t work, while Tory seats of ministers with higher infection rates get protected. A government truly run for London that doesn’t give two hoots about the north so why should we listen!? King of the north that man.
But this government can sign up to a no deal Brexit which is already costing £ Billions and will cost £ Billions more.? And they have also spaffed £ Billions more employing the serial failures such as Serco, Crapita, PWC (aka Pretty Woeful Company), EY etc using consultants on a daily rate that most people would give their right arm to be paid per month.I don't think the fight is about whether or not Manchester will go into tier 3 - its just at what price. Burnham wants all wages guaranteed 100% and no government can afford to, or will ever, sign up to that precedent
