The problem with you Knutsfordian is that you are under the massive misapprehension that the trusted good old ‘common sense’ of the Ingerlish people espoused by Johnson and the right wing media is true! It is largely a myth!If you listened to Patrick Valance and JVT tonight, what you get is straight forward answer to questions without political spin. What is also apparent is that most of the commentators don't like those answers as what they want is a continuation of the doom and gloom. They are looking at every tick and turn to find fault and twist the story to fit their agenda. None worse than Beth Rigby on Sky News.
The key message for me, was something covered in earlier posts on this thread - if not now then when? People need to take more personal responsibility and accept if they go to crowded places then there is a risk they have to manage, if necessary by walking away. If you get covid it's not the government's fault it can be avoided by standing in a meadow all on your own ad infinitum, as JVT said. But none of us want that. So suggest the bleating stops and people do what they should have done since the outset and manage their own risks !
You need just witness the anti-vaccine protests in London today, the Wembley riots, the thousands who flocked to beaches and other ‘beauty spots’ over the weekend (although I find it difficult to criticise a family living in a high rise flat with kids for not wanting to get out for a day or two to enjoy this wonderful weather), those - as you point out - want to fly away on holiday…..
