On a Saturday in the 50s what was the Tanner Bug Rush?.

Spot on John.
Can anyone name the films we used to watch.

There were cartoons, Flash Gordon with Ming the Merciless, Lone Ranger and Tonto.

I do remember only one paid to get in and then let the others in via the emergency exit.

Why Bug Rush though?

We use to queue down the side of the Plaza to get in the bottom door.Other films we watched were,The Three Stooges,Tom Micks,Roy Rogers.
The Bugs Rush, remember when we came out what it was like, especially down that hill.

Who remembers where the old Vicarage for Witton Church was when it was knocked down and who was the last vicar to live it it?.

The old Vicarage was at the end of where Vicarage Walk is now,over-looking the Horse Shoe,it was knocked down about 1960,the last Vicar was Matland-Wood.

In the days of the Steam Train when train spotting was popular, where was the most popular place to go in the area?.

Well, for me, it was 12 Greenall Road in the 50s, looking out of the front bedroom window by the old signal box towards the station bridge to watch the Black 5s coming through the bridge and the 'Dodger' going on the Middlewich spur to Sandbach.
Used to also watch them on Berry's bridge (never knew why it was called that) on Greenall Road & by Witton (sorry, Roker, sorry, Vickersway) Park. The most popular place was probably the 8E engine shed where we would spend a lot of time spotting when not playing football on Chinkers.
Also used to watch the shunters going over the bridge to Parks' steelworks where Arnold Clark is now.
As you're a lot older than me, Toddy, you'll probably remember the old line to Moore & Brock opposite where Tesco Garage is now.
GE

G.E.Hodge Lane Hartford was were we went.with our books with the train numbers in to tick off.It was where the main line trains used to pass.

Who remember's were the old gas works in Northwich were, and did anyone ever get hit on the head by a piece of coke off the shute when walking past?.

My dad had a framed photo of the gasometer taken from just down from Wilson's sports shop on the living room wall. We were a strange household! ;)

Who remembers when the sewerage ran straight into the river Dane and pipes used to go over the river near the sewer outlet, there were also stones going out into the river, the stones are still on the bank.Does anyone know what went through those pipe's?.

Does anyone remember when Rudheath Secondary Modern School had a class room in St John's on Penny's Lane, there used to be two teachers who held class's there, one was Sammy Dunn,I can't remember the other does anyone remember his name. One thing I do remember Sammy had played for Witton years before, one thing about the other teacher was he was a stickler for discipline, when he came into the class room you had to sit still and quite for two minute's before he started the lesson and god help anyone who moved or made a noise.

The programme below was a game played to raise funds for the building of the Memorial Hall. The teams were an all star eleven against a team made up of Vics and Witton players out of interest can you name which players played for Vics and which played for Witton. Also can you name anyone in the photo and also the trophies.Memory corner.jpeg Memory corner 2.jpeg
