Talk on twitter earlier that Widnes are moving to Barnton next season.
Does that exclude them from promotion on ground grading?

Not seen this but one does wonder how Widnes can afford the rent at the stadium they play at and a team challenging for promotion on the poor crowds they get. Barnton would clearly be a lot cheaper.

In terms of ground grading, I may be wrong but did Vics do some form of work on Barnton's ground to make it good enough for Evo-stick level? Apologies if I'm way off the mark here.

That was my first thought but I've been told that Townfield is Evostik standard.

If it is, then it has to be a sensible move for them, wherever they finish this season, from a financial perspective, but I still don't see how they can survive a promotion on their attendances

I heard on Thursday that Widnes were looking to move but I thought it was a new ground that they were talking about.
I think they had cheap rent thanks to CWAC, but maybe the council tax payers of Cheshire have revolted?

There is the obvious connection between Widnes chairman Ian Ross & his former club.

I thought the work was done to get the Townfield Lane up to HSL Prem standard. I can't see it being anywhere near NPL grading.

My source is reliable! Though I was astonished.

Which reminds me, we don't have an astonished emoji. Or none that I could see. Add it to the list with the tea emoji ;)

Ground was passed so Vics could stay in the NPL this season, unfortunately the results on the field didn’t pan out.

According to this website, Grade E is indeed needed to play at Evostik level. http://www.fansfocus.com/articles/ground_grading.php

If that's the case and the person on Twitter is right about the ground share, does this mean Widnes will not be in a position to get promoted? Would be good to get some confirmation.
