NPL watch

Witton now definitely are in with a shout of staying up. Two home games against Radcliffe and Basford which they will fancy. A tough game away at Warrington though and Basford will fancy winning their home match against Mickleover.

Could very well go down to the last game of the season this.

In our league, it's pretty much a must win for Workington at Marine on Saturday as Rylands have a far superior goal difference. Workington then have Kendal at home on Easter Monday and Market Drayton away last game of the season so should improve their goal difference hopefully better than Rylands who have us on Easter Monday and Bootle at home last game!!

Admittedly only after a brief cursory glance, I think if Newcastle can find themselves a win from their remaining games they should still avoid being dragged into the promotion/relegation play offs.
In the Division 1 Central, Wisbech could grab themselves an automatic relegation lifeline. Winning 5-1 at Histon and with a game still to play against bottom club Soham, they (or Soham for that matter) could replace Histon in the play offs.

Hold that thought!
Revised PPG table has Newcastle in a tighter spot than I first thought.

Lancing .942
Newcastle .942
Cinderford. .939
Kempston. .828
Witham. .828
Lincoln. .823
Histon. .6
Chalfont St Peter.545

Newcastle’s remaining fixtures don’t look too bad. They have a home game against Market Drayton.

Thinking they might be okay?

Certainly hoping so, however from what looked like a comfortable position for NPL 1 West, it’s all looking a bit tighter now.

Any idea why Trafford v Bootle is the only NPL game being played today?

Have they moved it because of the Man City v Liverpool game tomorrow? Some fixtures are kicking off at 1.00 or 1.30 to allow those wishing to watch the F A Cup game,

That probably explains it. Cheers Dave

Bootle won 2-1 so we can leapfrog Trafford with a win tomorrow.

9 from 9 for Witton after another win today.
But sadly Basford won at Stafford meaning a point is all they need to send Witton down on Monday.

A win for Newcastle today gives them 36pts from 36 games - enough to save them from the PPG cup?

And at the top Workington's defeat at Marine puts Rylands in pole position. Maybe.
Workington play Kendal & Market Drayton. Rylands play us & host Bootle in their last game.

Elsewhere Hanley have been promoted to the NPL - West or Midlands though?

You would think West as they are perhaps geographically further north than Newcastle Town? If they do it will make a few more derby games for North Staffs with Leek and Kidsgrove unless Leek go up via the play offs.
