New ground

Sorry it was a bit tetchy - but I really don't have a good feeling about this development. As unfair as it might be, women's football does not have the financial clout of the men's game. Its therefore difficult to see how this campus will generate enough money to return profits to local sport and not be a drain on the already stretched resources within local sport generally.

This project feels a bit like HS2 with a momentum generated by itself and without any real discussion about the benefits that will be delivered.

That's not to say that this can be laid at the door of 1874. Clearly it can't. However, given that you guys seem to be in a position to talk to Cheshire FA, perhaps you can relay the thinking that exists about deliverable benefits, which would help to dispel those fears.

Can't help but feel this time more than ever our membership needs to ramp-up efforts for a capital fund. We need a Northwich vicinity home. Barnton, Knights Grange - short term stays. Silsden and Charnock Richard, perfect examples of what could be achieved with a humble plot of land... not the acreage of CFA dreams. The exploration has been done around the area by CFA - we need that knowledge and we need something to buy into. A bond gives us purpose and readiness.

Are we really interested in Knutsfordian point of view, should he not get himself more involved with with the financial problems that the club he supports and perhaps assist them in solving WA problem !!

I think that’s right. In reality though, it’s going to take some time before we can have our own ground in Northwich. Both Barnton and KG give us the opportunity to do what we need to do to achieve this... in time and without risking the fundamental existence of the club in doing so. That some fans chose to chuck their dummies suggests they never really got what we were anyway. They were never in it for the long hard slog it takes to build from scratch.

Sign of the times unfortunately.

And we did identify a 'humble' plot of land 18 months ago opposite the Red Lion Antiques Centre. Just (and I do mean just) about enough room to fit a NWCFL style ground and almost no room to expand and therefore progress. It went for a cool £70k.

Unfortunately for us, Northwich is a boom town at present and house-builders have got £ Millions which they can just use to buy vacant land like this and leave it undeveloped until they are ready to develop it at a time that suits them. These are the plain and simple facts.

It was for this reason why I always favoured Moss Farm as our No1 choice.
