I wonder why there was such a rush by Witton to get the agreement with JRFC signed and sealed before the verdict was finalized?

Witton had no choice -by chucking them out so close to the league deadline to announce where you're playing they left themselves open to legal action. Wilton's error was signing a deal with them in the first place.
