It's not about specifically recruiting disillusioned/deluded Vics fans, but it does include them as much as anyone else. Overall it's shifting 'the message' we put out into a more positive spin rather than putting the negatives of NVFC first followed by a 'come and support us instead' message second.
Remember there is still a lot of ignorance in the town as to who is who!! What we need is a bandwagon for people to climb on to, not a tank to climb into and set out to destroy what's left of the 'enemy' in a war that is nothing to do with them. It needs to be fresh, exciting and forward looking with a very short unemotional reference to how we came into being so it makes sense.
There are ongoing initiatives that need to be pursued when manpower and finances permit such as the kids but we need to be aware of a much wider picture than 1874. Local football nationwide is struggling to keep fans and for me a giant alarm bell rang last night when 1874 were top and Witton could go clear at the top of their league if they won games in hand, both at home and a combined attendance of significantly less than 400. That is the world we live in and that is the challenge we face.
