Oops. Sorry for the late posting. I asked Shifnal for confirmation but got no reply and forgot to put it up yesterday. Most of this stuff is from last year and I have not re-checekd pubs - but those of you who go will work that out for yourselves!

Apparently it has 10 hand pumps, 3 BCA, 5 guests and 2 Cider (Anvil Inn, Shifnal - CAMRA Experience). Other pubs are available (Pubs & Clubs around TF11 8PD - CAMRA Experience) but people seemed to like Black Country in Penkridge.
Local places of interestSome beautiful places to walk around in Shifnal. Also have the local Ironbridge a short drive away as well as Telford

Another disappointing result I’m afraid.

We started well and got a deserved lead through a great Simms strike. On top and could have been two or three up.

From the run of play Shifnal equalise after winning a penalty from our own corner and then settle into the game thereafter. Their second goal was a counter from a poor throw from us and the third was another free kick that we didn’t deal with.

Three goals conceded from set piece situations and all avoidable. Unless we address this fast we are going to continue to struggle to win games. It’s a familiar story I’m afraid and with results going against us we are now further adrift in the bottom four. Congleton at home on Tuesday is a must win.

The 3 other clubs that played in step 9 last season are all in the top 10. We are adrift at the bottom …not good enough frankly. Our defence is the problem and needs to be addressed quickly …Padiham are no better than us after seeing them in both games BUT they organised at the back and don’t concede many goals…..big changes needed at the back ….

Didn’t go to Bootle game so didn’t know what to expect.
Sadly came away bitterly disappointed. We played well for most of first half with the midfield playing well for a change. First goal conceded was stupid play by Mwaliteta. A terrible corner and then ends up with an unecessary tackle to give a penalty.
From then on Shifnal gained confidence and we became disorganised and conceded a second goal to poor play. Though it was a good goal. Multiple substitutions made matters even worse. We could have lost by 4 or 5 by the end of the game.
I’m sorry to seem negative but from what I’ve seen this season so far we are poor and players need to realise you need to play for 90 minutes minimum. Can’t see where next win will come from and some players not up to this league s standards.

We know results aren’t what we want at the minute.

On behalf of the club I want to thank everyone for their loyal support. What a turnout today and better times will come.

On to Tuesday - we need EVERYONE there, behind the lads from minute one to the end. We are ‘74

Not attempting to make excuses for the poor form but I don’t believe our position to be comparable to the other 3 clubs who were in Step 5 last season.

Chris resigned at the very start of June, leaving us 6 weeks behind everyone else from that exact moment. He took a vast majority of players with him and also saw the departure of Dale Jennings, Haysie, Craig Pritchard and Fitz before he left.

Rory only started around the 20th of June. 10 days before pre-season started.

We were facing a rebuild. Unlike any of the other 3 who came into the division with us - they kept 80% of their teams and added quality to them.

Rory asked in his first interview with me that fans are patient and it will take time to get where we want to be. There are really positive signs from recent performances we are on our way to a result and I appreciate they need to come quickly.

Keep the faith

I agree with your point but with the greatest of respect to Chris VM are also in big trouble with half of 74 team from last season. The other 3 clubs from step 5 who are no better or bigger than 74 have strengthened where needed. Our defence is clearly struggling at this level and no matter how well we play if we concede cheap goals we will lose regularly …..sorry to be negative but change needs to happen

I think change is happening but some of it is forced on us.
We've lost two left backs to long term injuries & a regular starter has decided to drop down a league

We've brought in a new centre half to try and improve things but a lot of the errors are occurring further up the field

A big game on Tuesday, followed by our best chance to beat Linnets in a long time

We will get 2 or 3 wins over the next couple of weeks and things will look a lot brighter
Let’s get behind Rory and the team

My point was if we kept Chris, along with the players who didn’t follow to Vauxhall. Plus adding some experience and other quality, we would most likely be better off.

Big few games coming up for the remainder of this month.

Congleton at home, Linnets away, Kidsgrove at home, Stafford away and Wythenshawe at home.

Other than Stafford, a few wins is realistically achievable in all the other matches.

Come on 74!
