Fundraising ideas

I remember in the early years of our existence as a club there was brief talk about maybe getting a club mascot, it wouldn't be necessarily for actual matchdays (though that is unique at our level and maybe could be done) but to go into schools and have a presence at any community events in and around the town, I remember the response to this being that we'd have to get someone willing to wear the mascot costume which may be tricky but is definitely a possibility imo, I remember a while ago posting some ideas of possible mascots that we could create and so I'll have to see if I can find it again and if so I'll post on here and see what people think
Have a word with James wood he's a clown anyway 🤣🤣🤣

1874 syndicate (of the National Lottery variety!)

I have pitched this idea to a few people and it seemed well received.

One of the issues of some fund raising ideas is leg work, in that getting someone to chase and collect money. Another issue is financial exposure with regards to how much will it cost the fan. Another issue, sometimes, is whether there is any reward for the indivdual taking part, bearing in mind that the individual probably already contributes in other fundraising schemes.
This idea ticks both those boxes.

I propose that the club run a National Lottery syndicate with the following criteria.

The syndicate runs for each Saturday of the football season - rough guess 34 weeks next year, which at £2 per week cost each fan a maximum of £68
The £ 68 has to be paid in full at least a week before the start of the season.
At the end of the season half the profit goes to the club, the other half split between the participants.

Bit of fun.
Guranteed profit for the club.
Who knows!!!!!!!!!

@Jack Owen have we got enough between us to do say Thursday night football , put a £1 on to the subs which will go the club.

Thanks Nigel for looking at other ways to raise monies for for fantastic football club. I will start by saying as i am the elected board member for this area i have been asked to evaluate this idea and opportunity.

looking at your suggestion indicates that if we started on August 8th & ran this competition up till 24th April 2027 ( the football season) then at the proposal of £2.00 per week & 38 Saturday night draws the supporters / fans / members would spend an initial upfront payment of £76.00 .
As there are 59 balls to sell then ideally we need 59 members or at the very least to sell all the balls .
59 x 2 x 38 would mean a total of £4484 generated income.
If we based that on a 50/50 split then we are looking at £2242 net income for 1874 FC
If you were a beneficiary of a winning bonus ball number your first winnings are £59 so to benefit from this game you have to win twice to be in profit yourself .

We currently run a Golden Goal away scheme for league matches which has 90 minutes permutations . The idea being each minute is owned by the fans. supporters / members . As this fundraiser is linked to the 21 league games 1874 will play next year and if we use the £2.00 per game scenario then the outlay for entry is upfront payment £42.00
Same rules apply 90 x 2 x 21 = £3780.00

Here we have used a 60/40 winning ratio being 60% profit for the club £ 2268 and 40% winnings £1512
If you are a beneficiary of a winning minute your first win is £72.00. which means whilst the odds are slightly worse here 1:90 versus 1:59 the rewards are greater whilst generating the same income for the football club.

You have of course hit home on leg work required and participants to play and last year we only sold 45 minutes meaning this scheme whilst an excellent fundraiser was diminished by lack of support , willing to play, turning a blind eye, or simply cant afford the outlay.
I appreciate the economy is tight , and we do have a knack of asking the same people all the time .
New money is definitely required.

In summary I would like to run both schemes but if we had to sell out on one first then i would pick the Golden Goal Away scheme first and foremost as it hits the same targets as the proposal suggested but requires less initial outlay for our customers and rewards are greater if you win.

The world Cup sweepstake has just sold out so this year's Golden Goal Away scheme 26/27 will go on sale at the end of May, please come and support .... £42 upfront payment .

Whilst looking at the opportunities could we go Golden Goal Home ticket increase to £2.00 ?

I think Nigel's idea was for a syndicate, not a bonus ball.

Actually buying tickets for the draws, and then the winnings are split 50/50 into a pot for the club and a participants pot, which is then split equally between everyone who has bought in.

I musn`t have explained myself very well.

Each participant picks the usual 6 numbers as though they are entering the lottery in the usual way.

If only 10 people take part then we have 10 chances each Saturday to win the lottery.

We don`t need a minium or maxiumum number of people to take part, obviously the more that do means we have a better chance of winning.

We may only pick up a handful of £30 over a season but one never knows!

My apologies Nigel , i misinterpreted your initial idea but at the same time gave me a chance to remind everyone that we run some tremendous schemes already which people can jump onto like TMFG ( Toddies Money for Goals) LMS (Last Man standing ) Golden Goal away (explained above) World Cup sweepstake, Boost the Budget 300 + Club, Curry nights, Beer Festival. etc.

You now have me dreaming of the perfect win which in fairness we all talk about .

I stand by trying to sell what we have got already first and foremost , we wouldn't want to dilute the cash coming in as player numbers are crucial for instance we only have 50 players in TMFG need more - 100 players in LMS need more so further support for these initiatives is crucial to increase our already successful fund raisers and tested income generators.

I do like this idea that you never know it could be you tho !

Let's get everything sold that we have to sell first then why don't you and i get together so we can work out the fundamentals, promotions and how you can get onboard fund raising this idea.

Not sure how doable it is but what about doing an 1874 bar sports day such as bowls (which I know has been done before) as well as darts and pool competitions and charge an entry fee of say £10 per competition (based on let's say 32 entrants) and see if we can get some sponsorship for some small trophies and to cover the room hire of wherever the venue is, if possible the players and management could also get involved and if we wanted to go even bigger then why not include some other local teams for a big joint effort where the money could be split amongst the clubs and a charity/charities, again not sure how viable this is but just putting it out there

Thanks Josh , some likeable ideas here so let me evaluate and get back.

Not sure if it would work, but could be an idea. What about a family fun day? May help encourage younger supporters and also the local community too!

Have things like face painting, tombola, raffle, hook and duck (homemade), beat the goalie - see if players would go in net??

If advertised properly I think this could work and also encourage the younger ones and it encompasses the family/supporter led club.

Another fundraising idea could be a darts competition night.

Many thanks Showils94 for this suggestion.
This has been passed onto me for evaluation and i will share this with the Junior section of 1874 as i feel the first part of the suggestion is more aimed and better evaluated at that part of our club.

In February we ran a quiz evening which was attended by 38 supporters, fans, members of the club and all had a great night out so a darts evening is certainly worth considering along with other events .

Beer Festival 14th November 2026 & Rudheath Sports and Social Club .

A great fund raiser last year but as always dying on its a**e this year with a very poor 18 sold tickets.
The biggest issue here is support and commitment to buying your tickets .

By doing so we can then evaluate how much beer to buy knowing that we have sold X times tickets and how much to spend on music /food etc to aid a great night.

At this rate Woolley, Shuffy, and I will be sat in a corner playing Saturday night bingo trying to raise £15 for 1874.
