Hello ladies and gents,

I have not followed much about non league football in recent times however i used to go and watch Northwich Vics with my uncle back in the day. I moved away and didnt follow.
I have recently moved back and was looking into going vics again and thats where i came about you guys?

Can you tell me whats gone on? i guess it will be too long to put in email but just roughly please.

I see they're doing very well on the pitch and into FA Cup first round

Tony, pop down to the Barton Stadium (we currently play at Winsfords ground) to watch one of the 1874 games, you won't be disappointed..

Next home game is next Tuesday night ko @ 7:45.... you will enjoy it!! You might even see some old friends :) .... and make some new ones!

There is also an on-going thread in General Chat which gives you a flavour of the continued feelings towards the club. Sadly, the club you once supported only still exists in name. The soul is with 1874.

so main problem is chairman???

I support liverpool and protested against Hicks and Gillet but still supported the club so unsure why the need of setting up new team? I am not fishing just trying to understand.

Long, long history of lies, losing the ground, financial irregularities, embarrassment after embarrassment, forced relegation after forced relegation (due to financial irregularities), local businesses screwed over etc. There are many reasons but most people are now weary of it all and want to look forward with a fan run, honest and financially sustainable club.

They seem to be on the straight now though?? Doing very well by looks of it.

Who does that die hard vics fan support?? Craig is it???

Tony.

I think that you might want to look at the issue of JRs mystery investors and their rationale for "investing" in a club with no hope of ever seeing a return on their investment.

I suggest to you that it is not what is said but what is not being said and you need to look a little deeper and make your own conclusions as to why many Vics fans of many decades experience decided to walk away from JR and his private football club.

Many of those fans have now found a club of which they can honestly say that they have control, which is ethically run, solvent, and accountable to the local community which is the lifeblood of any small amateur football club.

Would love to reply to this thread but it's washing day as you can see and I'm busy

So where is your home ground then?

Northwich?

Hate the board but surely you still have affection for the club you supported? What if club sold up and new board took over? who would you support then

And in answer to your question... I would support 1874....Northwich Vics was my team, but this has changed over the years and sadly , now means nothing to me.... (my first Vics game was 1981, so it wasn't an easy decision... but has most certainly been the right choice)

The final straw for me was away @ FC United when there was a demonstration by the majority of the fans at the way the club was run; the response of the chairman and a select number of fans was disgusting .... I was embarrassed to call myself a Vics fan... never been to see them since...

what was the reaction??

starting to understand bit now.

Fair play.

There was also a case where the chairman turned down help from the supporters trust saying he didn't need it and it was his private football club, or words to that effect.

Yeah they're on a good cup run. The fact that they played and illegible player twice in 2 previous rounds, unfairly ending the cup dreams of 2 fair playing rule abiding teams and that they should have been kicked out of the comp on both those occasions is irrelevant.

Tony.

I think that I speak for most fans when I say that for me Northwich Victoria FC is dead, but I still have many happy memories of the fun times I had supporting that famous old club.

The "thing" that calls itself JRFC (Jim Rushes private football club-see above) is nothing to any of us, but the spirit of the old Northwich Victoria FC and the Drill Field lives on at Winsford with 1874 Northwich FC which as a co-operative football club run by its fans and for the benefit of its fans and the local community.

My dad who is a Northwich Victoria fan of over 60 years said that forming 1874 is the best footballing thing that ever happened.

What is there not to like!

Now thats a great response!

Well played sir.

People calling me a troll is bit unfair.

Simply trying to understand the situation.

No need for the bitterness at all from some.....

Educating people is one of the most important things in football and understanding the rivalries, where the club has come from etc.....

Lord Flasheart you're a credit to the club and i hope you are a spokesman for the club.

TimBen + Barnton green hope you are a bit more welcoming to newbies in ground. Simply asking questions to understand the divide.

So who would your biggest grudge match be now then?? Vics? Witton? Winsford?
