Wasn't the BS named after someone called Barton that was Chairman or something like that for Winsford United died and they renamed the ground after him, with it being called The Great Western Playing field beforehand?
 
Jack it's named after the man who brought Winford united back after world war 2 and yes that's it's previous name it also had a greyhound track
 
Think it was post WW1 not 2 TB. Not that I have personal memories of the event ...
 
Tim Ben you are right about the Greyhound track,me and a mate Billy Leather owned a Greyhound and used to race it there(never won).
