This is football unfortunately, they come with managers and they go with managers. We have been on the crest of a wave. No manager or player is bigger than the club. We move on.
 
Lovely to see some of their fans having a moan about all the 74 players coming in. They definitely see the new signings as a down grade versus the players they're losing 🤣

The Northern Premier League can confirm that Mark Harris has resigned from his positions as Independent Chairman and Director of the League with immediate effect.

Play offs being expanded to six teams next season instead of four. One to win the title remains unchanged though.

I’ve seen this on the NPL West fans group.

That just seems mad. How do you get from 6 teams to 2? Horribly unfair if the 7th team get promoted in place of the 2nd.
Is it my memory or when they introduced playoffs was it not to get a third team promoted rather than just 2? It always seemed stupid to me that Rugby played a fll season and then the top teams went into a knock out to determine the winners and then football half followed. And I knw, that by the logic of my moans we would not have been promoted.
 
2nd and 3rd straight into semi finals.

4th vs 7th and 5th vs 6th in a qualifying round to get to the semis.

2nd plays lowest remaining team at home.

3rd plays highest remaining team at home.

The Championship are doing it this season as well. So the team that finishes 8th could end up in the Prem.

I think the new format will be the same as the Conference leagues above

As much as it gives more teams a chance of getting promoted and less dead rubber games at the end of the season, I do think it’s unfair that 7th can potentially get promoted over 2nd.

None of this will likely impact us though as realistically play-offs won’t be our aim this season.
 
Mark and Ben, thanks for your answers. To take it to a "logical" conclusion how long before the idiots in their ivory towers have all teams in the leagues involved in playoffs - so last could become first and vv. Madness. And yes, i am an old fart who does not like tinkering with things which work (two up and down and goal average - go back to that and there would be even less shots on goal!)
 
Isn’t there a rule in some leagues (Italy?) where you have to finish within so many points of second place to play in the play-offs? I might’ve imagined that.

EDIT. It is Italy but the rule is if the third place team is 15+ points clear, the play-offs don’t happen and they get automatic promotion with first and second. Or something…

Nowhere in the write up does it use the term “locally based” Canadian. 👀 You wonder what the attraction is? It does suggest he has bought the Giant Axe or is it just a sloppy write up. Can’t recall what neighbours the ground and if the land is a prime location?
Which Lancaster City well going forward but I struggle to see the new owners creating a mini Wrexham scenario here🤷‍♂️
 
Vauxhall Motors have announced the departure of Josh Oultram.
Don’t possess Twitter on my phone so can’t provide links or further info. I think the last update had him dual reg’d with Market Drayton.
 
He went dual-reg then was on the bench for Motors. I think he started their Trophy exit to.
Nowhere near good enough for NPL football.
 
Agree not up to NPL level - maybe he could continue in the Midland or North West Counties

An honest , hard working character whom never let us down, IMHO he played a major role in us being able to defend our 1-0 lead against Vics in the Play-off final when we went down to 10 men by providing an ever willing outlet for our defence as they fought to stem the the Vics onslaught. NBut as others have said, nowhere good enough to play Step 4 footy on a regular basis.
 
I never saw Josh play but I always got the impression that he gave his all wherever he was playing. Can’t ask for more than that.
