With rain forecasted every day again next week our game with Leek already looks ominous.
If postponed we will still not have had a league game this year and will take us into March before any chance of one taking place!

That would leave 8 weeks of the season to fit in our remaining 13 league games which should be fine but any more than 3 cup matches would see us playing more than twice a week.

To be fair Alan - full marks to the League who to their credit were bringing fixtures forward early on in the season (getting matches played when they could) and this has certainly helped the situation

I don't think that anyone could have foreseen the awful weather that has been experienced over the last couple of months.

Thankfully we are not really too far behind with our fixtures but we do need to get back to playing our matches on a regular basis as soon as possible

As for 3G pitches? It certainly has some merit even though the clubs in the Football League don't seem to think so!

And the Conference have just voted against them too.

But 3g/4g would be ideal for a community club like ours.

Perhaps everyone should play at Widnes for the rest of the season?

We need to get back to regular football, we saw last saturday that we were affected by our lack of game time. I am desperate for the next two home games to be on. A lot of effort has gone into the 'Bring a Mate' promotion and to see it postponed again would be so disappointing.

The game against Holker is special as it is being sponsored by my family and friends. It is also my birthday (yes 32 again) and the only thing I want is 3 points and my first Birties pie of the season (usually sold out when I have finished my team sheets!)

Come on rain.... "do one"!

3/4G pitches are the blindingly obvious way forward for all clubs upto and including league 1, the stats alone merit that the blinkered traditionalists in the FA should look seriously at it - if it's good enough for National teams like Russia to be allowed to play full internationals on then why not the ordinary club? Barmy.
I have been on the 4G pitch at St Georges Park and the one at Widnes- not a big difference at all and if it means that fixtures are played and clubs can fulfill their obligations then it has to be the right move and certainly for us in the foreseeable future.

Especially with clubs groundsharing - there are a few grounds in our league going to have have at least 3 games a week on them.

Hot topic in today's NLP. I will confess to knowing little about them, but it does seem the obvious way forward, particularly if developed as a community resource. No doubt our ever-industrious Board are on the case and examining the options, sources of grant funding, opportunities to link with the council etc etc.

Agreed but if hundreds of teams in non-league pyramid apply then there will be limited funding, but this does need to be addressed.

4g has the advantage not only of guaranteeing your game is on but the revenue from hire out especially during a prolonged period of bad weather could be huge.

Just noticed that Winsford have played the fewest games in their league.

Can you get sloping 3g pitches?

Not sure it would help down here! Water polo maybe.
I missed getting to a game due to the waterlogged pitch so just hope I can make it after everywhere dries out. I putting all my hopes on Eric Pickles, who could form a useful dam on his own.

I hear that the residents of Somerset are terrified at the prospect of Pickles paying them a visit. Concern is that if he should slip and fall into the water, then applying Archimedes principle, the water levels would rise by several feet all over the Somerset levels!

Seriously, Lord Branston is popular round here for saying what everyone thinks and Lord Smith refused to say - he and Prince Charles are the ones who emerge with most credit; though I fear he has been closed down for a while.
And the name Pickles will always be popular with the football fraternity for as long as the World Cup is played!
I just wish I could get to a game and buy that new 1874 mug.

Maybe would should take some advice from a drains specialist. But not the same one employed by JRFC as I believe he only specilised with slim from the gutter.

No games on at all today in our League & only 2 on in the Prem.
