A new thread for the coming season

Why would a random person invest in a non-league club in a different country?
And “invest” probably means lose money

Substantial shareholder,🤔

“Because of the land-locked nature of Marston Road, it is widely accepted that for the club to progress then they must move away from their home of over 100 years. At present there are no official plans to do this and the club are instead upgrading the ground to meet league requirements”

I remember it’s on an industrial estate. I wonder what value it would hold if sold🤔

Progress to where?National League?
Maps show industrial units behind the car park & goal, but housing on 3 sides.

It’s not a massive plot so I doubt the value would cover the cost of a new ground.
Perhaps that’s what they are investing in - a new plot & new income streams

Plenty of signings being announced at Stafford. On the face of it they look like a decent bet for league winners🤔 Witton seem to have been busying themselves too. If they get all those signings over the July 1st line (and no reason why not 🤷🏼‍♂️) then they should expect to be involved in postseason shenanigans 🤔👀

Don’t understand the situation at the swamp, they say they can’t survive on gates less than 800+ but now they are throwing contracts around all over the place.
Their squad must be costing a fair bit of money and contracts are always a worry at this level.
Clearly rolling the financial dice and hoping for the best

The NPL West is a dangerous place.
Macc, Hednesford, Bury & now Stafford all splashed the cash to try to get out of it.
And if clubs try to keep up with them then they risk disaster

Witton’s accounts are due to be published soon. Their AGM was last week so they should be done.
They’ll make interesting reading

I think in only a few cases were players stated as being contracted. Got the impression that perhaps some players have reached an agreement in principle? Whether those signings become a reality, who knows, that’s their worry I guess🤷🏼‍♂️
Plenty of other clubs adopting the same policy too. One thing you can be sure of, it’ll blow up in the faces of a few of them.

Over the last week or so Linnets have announced the following departures…
Lewis Doyle, Ryan Brooks, Bayleigh Passant, Harvey Washington, Joe Ferguson

All a bit odd to lose so many 1st team players.
Are they all going to Staffordshire?

Witton have also signed James Steele and Lewis Crane from Linnets

Looks like wholesale changes taking place. I suppose if they want to edge that step further and get over that promotion line then you probably do need to have some element of squad tweaking🤷🏼‍♂️ While I’m sure a bit unnerving for the fans that there is scant news about incoming members of the squad, Linnets seem to be employing that discrete approach perhaps of making sure that registrations/contracts are secured and registered before announcing them to the non-league world. Can’t disagree with that philosophy either.

Ryan Brooke, Linnets' all time record goalscorer, has joined Trafford.
Trafford could be up there battling for promotion perhaps, particularly in the light of Rammy appearing to be experiencing a bit of player movement themselves🤔

According to Twitter and the NLM, Danny Holmes resigns at Vauxhall Motors.

Vauxhall goalkeeper, Calvin Hare, has announced he is leaving the club. Two days after announcing he is staying.

Another coach has also announced his departure.

SM suggesting Holmes is Tranmere bound. Surely not Hare and the Club Secretary too though 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

Vauxhall have released a statement saying that a budget cut was why Danny Holmes chose to leave.
