I met Dave McCoy today who passed me a “BIN box “ which he came across in his late mum’s belongings . He didn’t want to open it himself so I took it away . It was Val’s personal 1874 piggy bank and contained a tidy sum , obviously loose change she would chuck in when the mood took her. It also contained two old currency threepenny bit pieces ( one from 1952 the other 1966 ) and I haven’t yet checked their worth but what a nice gesture ! Val attended most home games and was a fiercely committed supporter , it’s good to see Dave getting to more games and keeping the family connections going . Astounds me the commitment our club gets from its fans , sponsors , the board , management and volunteers and I know the players feel the unity and support .
On such foundations the club is going in the right direction and enjoying the deserved success of which stalwarts like Val would approve.
RIP Val , a fine lady
