Seems to be a very poor decision by the match ref. My understanding is that guidance to the refs is if both teams wish to start the game then in circumstances similar to last nights, the game should commence. The pitch looked OK and most including players from Leek thought it playable.
The ref also should look at the cost and inconvenience caused here. Leek with their current problems can ill afford a further set of travel costs, 1874 will have incurred match day expenses, people have volunteered their time to get the pitch playable and many if not all supporters will have traveled.
