Sleaford and Huntingdon expelled from the Vase.

I'm in two minds here as to whether the FA have acted appropriately or unable to ascertain with absolute certainly who was more to blame, they decided expelling both would be the safest (and easiest) course of action?

If you aren't up to speed with what went on, here's a link to the post-game statements both clubs gave on the incident:

Right decision by the FA with neither club having the balls to admit they were wrong.

However can we expect appeals, with both clubs being represented by 'you know who' of whatever he calls his business now ;)

I'd be surprised if that were the case. Don't think either club (certainly Huntingdon) have enough in the coffers to cover his fees ;)

I think the FA have made an example of them here, which is fine to a point. Of course when we read about a similar incident in an FA Cup tie (maybe not this season I'll grant you) when the "big boys" are involved, I hope that they remain as principled and mete out the same punishment; my guess is they'd bottle it?

I fear you are right with that last point Tez. The FA are not exactly renowned for having a consistent approach to punishments.

Heard a representative of one side giving a less than coherent account of events on 606 just after it happened, and there still seems to be little recognition by either side that it amounted to much - "only 7 or 8 people", as Huntingdon say!

I can see blame on both sides, but as both have resorted to the playground defence of "he started it" I think the FA didn't really have much option. If an incident at that level makes it onto the national media it has to be classified as "bringing the game into disrepute", and at that level you can't impose a big fine. No mention of individual bans (but maybe that's just the nature of the reporting).

It was Cup not Vase by the way.

Yes, school boy error on my part. :)
