Abbey Hey Match

Meads or Mitch alongside Lever or Pritchard would be ideal. The two younger lads havent develope the leadership side of the game as of yet. You can see that when they play together.

Im looking forward to Saturday now...sort of...

We’re not far off being a very good team. When it clicks we could be a very threatening team, we’ve seen glimpses of that already this season.

Let’s judt hope it clicks sooner rather than later...

Firstly I agree to a certain extent with Wayne's article in the Guardian and it's nice to see his honest comments.

To lose two early goals and get a major player sent off on 20 mins then it is always going to be difficult.

The first was too easy, the marking was non existent and the guy had time to place it in the corner away from Gregg, the second was clean through the middle again giving the forward the opportunity to pick his place again. We continued to struggle up until Adam's great strike which gave us the impetus to come out after half time on the up.

We then started to play some nice football and deservedly got the equaliser from another good corner routine. At this stage everybody around us thought we were going on to win. Abbey seemed to react to this and the game became more even until they scored with hell of a shot from the edge of the area. We then started to chase the game and they then broke away and finished us.

The first period was a major factor, we weren't playing well and didn't deserve anything really in the first half, but with the second half performance although it was an encouraging first period we probably did deserve to lose.

In my opinion we really do need experience at the back. Nothing wrong with Connors, Pritch, Meads and Jackson as a back four. Change it and we get problems. Direction and organising is required. We now have Mitch to add to this 4. Lever is a good replacement but in the centre where we need to be strong I'm not sure this is the answer. One other point from Tuesday is that Jake is wasted playing on the wing. He is our best play maker and is just not involved enough out there.

We are a bit different on personnel and form now from the start of the season and perhaps now is the time to play the players in their positions and not try to fit them into the system that gave us the success in the cup. We need to adapt to the match in question and not stick to Scotty and two wingers.

Just my opinion remember and we go again on the Wembley trail on Saturday. See everyone there.
