74’ vs Avro

I feel sorry for our front runners as the service is not good. I thought Max got some good work in and a few useful heads forward but with no-one near enough to help. I would like to see Jamie start as an old fashioned centre forward. I know he does not have the height but he has the speed and eye for goal and i think he is worth a try.
Unfortunately I cannot make the Trafford game but would have been there otherwise.

Much better performance yesterday. McCann made a world of difference looking after the ball in the centre of the park and we looked so much better getting the ball down on the deck rather than pumping it long and losing possession every time we won the ball. Max is a willing runner but he just doesn’t seem to occupy the right areas and prefers to wrestle his marker than move to the ball half the time - I think if we could coax a proven goalscorer from somewhere (difficult job for any new manager) then we will be okay. We have definitely been moving in the right direction since GoBo vacated their positions imo.

So much for 'getting rid of the managers will improve attendances'
Yesterday's attendance was Abysmal and embarrassing for a Saturday. Even that on a Tuesday would be low.
The ‘abysmal and embarrassing’ attendance yesterday is as a direct result of the poor football served up under the previous managers and why the time was right for them to leave.

The crowd was considerably higher against Bootle following their immediate departure as the ‘stay aways’ returned which showed how many had voted with their feet. Didn’t help then that we got thumped 4-0.

No coincidence that performances have been better since they left and with a new manager and hopefully improved football and results, the tide will fingers crossed turn with attendances.

Keeping Wayne and Paul in and not making a change would have meant I fear crowds plummeting lower than what we saw yesterday.

Absolutely hit the nail on the head.

I mean come on, we’ve had 2 home games since the they left…… one gate was considerably higher. The shockingly poor standards and style we played under Gobo has turned fans away, and it can’t be disagreed with - I know fans who were staying away for that exact fact and gave up due to the clear unwillingness to change.

A few decent results, people will return hopefully, and when they do, under a new manager who hopefully looks to play decent footy will encourage any past and potential new fans to stay.

Those who said that everyone is wrong who felt the time was right for a change. Look at the team who they have left us with - other than those Wool/Jonah brought in, we have a bare squad to turn to and no real depth other than arguably in cm.

Woolley and Jonah can only deal with what they have been left with at present.. and hats off to them for getting the lads fighting and already being better performances - it’s no coincidence.

I think that we will regret today.

Sorry but There's a few reasons why the attendance was lower yesterday

1. When was last time we have won alway put fans off
2. Northwich Chirsmas event was on
3. It was very cold always put some fans off
4. Man city vs Liverpool on at lunchtime dose not help with Floating fans
5. Avro brought 10 with them

Such a cop out. Being held to ransom by supporters staying away is bleak. Financially damaging to the club when we have to scrape for every bit of potential income. Criticising and complaining after less then a minute into games.
Even yesterday, there was no noise until we scored. That's not a result of the previous management.

To have such a bolstered crowd vs Bootle to then over 100 fewer yesterday is not the previous management's fault. Playing better football over the last 3 games has gained us 0 points. At least we were playing ugly and getting points before.

Even when we played good football and had winning runs under Bow and Goodie people were complaining so it's not as if it was a new thing phenomenon when the form dipped this season.

The board consistently say that they are open to ideas. They get nothing.

I've tried to push and promote the Boxing Day game as a key home fixture to target a big, big gate that will drive revenue and financially benefit us. All I get is negativity.

Continuously blaming a past management team who are responsible for getting us to the highest level we have ever played and never suffered a relegation is a dangerous habit to fall into. We can't move positively forward if all we get is negativity.

At the end of the day people decide how to spend
For people complaining that's football every one has Opinion you win 10-0 and someone would still have a moan

As for noise well it should not just be upto the few people to get the atmosphere going you alway stand with riff raff and get it going they don't bite

Sorry people have come up with ideas 95% of the time get told no so people just give up

And want some ideas what I know have turn down in past

I don’t think blaming the fans and putting fault at their door is the way forwards here.

Matt and Mark have only stepped in two weeks and have managed to bring in someone of the quality and experience of McCann. The previous management were unable to do so and it makes you wonder why. Jamie for some reason unknown to me never got a start under the previous managers and now given a chance, has been a revitalised player as has Lucas not played out of position.

Regardless of what we think of the merits of the managers going, we do need to look forward now and get behind the lads and whoever the new managers are and we can only hope that things turn around!

No fan blame. Just mentioning that there are lots of small things that can be done for improvements.

Negativity from minute 1 is very easy to stop.

Getting on board with Boxing Day 1,000 rather than shooting it down without even trying is easy.

Positive outcome: we hit an 1,000 gate.
Negative outcome: we don't hit an 1,000 gate.

We haven't lost anything if it doesn't work.

Don't forget the No 5 having got back on his feet deliberately stamping on the leg of one of the 1874 players as he lay on the ground. I am sure the No 5 would have been sent off had the referee seen it.

I think as a fan base we need to move forward together, doesn’t matter if you were GoBo in or out.

Its done now, lets pull in the same direction, we all need to do more ourselves to promote games. Starting this Saturday.

Not having a united fan base all pulling in the same direction will kill the football club.

I suggested flyering and leaflet dropping for this game, I have offered my time in posting to houses on Winnington urban village, I’m sure other people may be willing to offer their time should the club ask for help, and likely other catchments where other fans live.

There’s been no contact or info to suggest that this is going to be an option, it’s all well and good getting suggestions in, but I’m afraid it’s down to the club/board/commercial team to decide and put in a plan of action on any suggestions we provide.

As already pointed out by Mark T, there were multiple factors to take into account yesterday for the low attendance. To blindly look over then factors is ridiculous.

The performances with limited squad the previous management left behind because “we have a small budget” have been hugely improved by Matt and Jonah, and an excuse widely used by to Pro GoBo’s “we’ve played teams all in or chasing the play offs” had GoBo been at the helm for the last 3 games we would have played negative football, been thumped and had a still disgruntled fan base.

Matt and Jonah have done well with what they have been left with, they’ve show you can recruit with this “small budget” by bringing in experience in Chris McCann who yesterday showed it’s possible to play simple, attractive football instead of pumping 50 yard balls for the wingers to chase. He’s a great addition to the squad and if we can get a striker who looks like they can score goals we will be fine this season.

With regards to your comments about trying to push the Boxing Day game to hit a 1000 at home, there have been suggestions given, positive ones. If you’re choosing not to listen or act on them then I’m sorry, but that’s on the club. What have you done as the commercial manager to advertise this game? Jack advertises the games on the fan run social media and plugs the games and well done to him. But I don’t see anything from the commercial team. It was suggested over the summer about going into the local schools and giving out tickets, nobody from the club has done that, Witton have though!

Mark T appears to have put suggestions to the board or commercial team which he clearly feels falls on deaf ears. Our advertisement comes on pages which fans who may or may not attend games are already part of, I see nothing on any pages unrelated to 74 about games. Has anyone from the club contacted the local radio station to advertise any games? You can’t claim that all you get is a negative response when there has been suggestions made and what it appears to us who aren’t on the board or the commercial team have been largely ignored.

Personally, I don't remember having any suggestions put my way. At all. I have repeatedly said that I am happy for people to suggest ideas to me and I have had nothing from anyone. There is a thread in the forum now for suggestions and I am the only one to have added to it so far.

At the moment, the Boxing Day idea is in the planning stage. I have asked if anyone has any connections with anything that would be useful in promoting, such as Radio Northwich, Northwich Bid, flyers in bars etc. Nobody has responded to me on that. I had missed the flyering Windsford suggestion, which would be ideal so can co-ordinate on that. I'm happy to cold contact these other areas. but if someone has a more personal link then that would be good to know and easy to use.

Just on this, I hadn’t posted on the actual thread as I assumed you had sight of the offer due to interaction on the Clitheroe thread Mark. Just for reference, the following was posted in the Clitheroe thread 07/11 before operation Boxing Day was a thing;
Can we leaflet the Witton game? Always said the catchment in Winnington urban village is perfect if people can give time to post them around. Plenty of young and/or new to area families.

I’m sure I could find some time to post some if the club want to go down this route. I know the witton game will already naturally bring in neutrals, but why not aim to maximise as much as we can. I’m sure any other locals areas people would be willing to post would help too

Great if it is in the planning stage though and if we do wish to flyer the game, and get it printed for people to post, drop me a message as I’d be happy to help out with posting some.

Ah ok, I hadn't seen that!
I was going off what was in the thread I made for it.

Currently compiling a list of people / organisations to target / communicate with.
We're looking at getting Radio Northwich & Northwich Guardian involved with shout outs and promotion.

I'm going to contact the local sports reporters on Twitter to see if they will mention as well. Also ground hopper pages. I know it's Boxing Day, but we might attract some casuals with it being a local derby.

Currently costing flyers / printers. If it gets the green light then we will need people to help deliver them, so any time people can donate towards it would be appreciated.

Brilliant work Mark. Sounds like a lot has been put into it, here’s to hoping it is a success and we get a green light on flyering!

Yeh, pretty sure FB is good.
Won't be at Trafford game because I'm at a 40th in Southampton but will update as and when I have progress.
