Tonights game V Winsford is OFF.

No great surprise given the state of the pitch at the weekend & the rain since then.

No suprise with that pitch

The pitch that we've spent thousands upgrading, we've played good football on all season, that's played more games already (32) than any other in our league, that's had hundreds of man hours of maintenance by our volunteers and that's only had 3 of our home games called off because of the weather?

Yeah that pitch.

Considering it’s reputation over the years and the fact it’s had plenty called off this season already (whether it’s 1874 or Winsford) I was pleasantly surprised by the pitch when we played Winsford.

It clearly struggles with one area, but aside from that it was fine. Heavy and slow but perfectly playable. And there was plenty of rain that week.

That's exactly the problem though, spent thousands on it and its still poor and we'll probably be spending thousands more on it while we're there and its not even ours
Getting one small area sorted or put thousands in wi**ons pocket....(also using a pitch that will never be ours).....know what I prefer!!

No because we have had 5 away league games postponed because of the weather!

I wouldn’t get caught up on those statistics.

The telling statistics would be how many games have been Postponed at Winsford (whether that be a game of ours or Winsfords) this year where it is one of the only games that is off.

It’s even a pitch that tries to flood itself from below, let alone the skies!

I get caught up on facts Andy.
Out of our 11 postponements this season 7 have been away which would still be the case if we were paying extra for a billiard table somewhere.
No Winsford is not perfect but whilst its our home we should respect and support all the work done by our club and volunteers who get games on.

We at Winsford know that the pitch is not ideal but thanks to the work of the 1874 Stadium gang it has improved immensely in recent years. We are eternally grateful for the assistance that 1874 have given to improving the facilities at the SLBS and hope that they will continue to do so in the future. There are plans to try and remedy the problem area during the summer that should hopefully bring the pitch up to a more acceptable standard but I realise that even this may not satisfy everyone.

We can all pick and choose quotes in an attempt to make people look daft...

But look I said, I’m more interested in the number/ statistic on how many times a game at Winsford has been postponed whilst the majority of others have not been.

Winsford themselves have unfortunately had 7 Home games postponed in recent months. We’ve been lucky on the weekends our home games have fell. We might not be so lucky going forwards.

No ones criticising the work done by our club or Winsford. The pitch is better than it was a few years back. But at then end of the day, the pitch is a bowl shape - and bowls are typically good at holding water!

All we can do is hope for a drier spring...

This time last season we had played 36 competitive games this year it is 35.We have played as many competitive games as most of the teams in our league and more than some.

Dave thanks for your kind words and I am sure the stadium gang appreciate them,
Sure most of us are happy to remain at winsford until our options become clearer.

To add to the above, last season we had played 18 home games, this season it is 20 games which includes the game at Witton.
