A mixed night for 74’ last night going down 3-0 to Salford.

Thought first half for the most part 74’ were looking the more dangerous side and were playing some good football, two rapid counter attacks and we found ourselves 2-0 down.

Second half we competed better in tackles and were closer to the ball when Salford looked to keep possession and retain the ball. But still their back line was too solid for us to get a goal of our own.

Thought Salford were very good, some of their players could play level or two above 1874, the 9 and 10 were a real handful.

As for 1874, for all the good passing and glimpses at goal we never got anything clear cut, still feel we’re lacking something in the final third - a cutting edge. Defensively a bit concerning to concede from Salford’s only 2 attacks of the first half.

Still got key players to return, Mark Jones, Matt Woolley, Jack Irlam.

See you all at Wythenshawe.

Agree mostly with Jack.

Really enjoyed the game last night. We played some great football in the first half against a very physical and stronger Salford team.
A great free kick from our Lucas trialist saw a great save from their keeper. Also a good chance from the 11 trialist saw him put it wide when he could have played in Gabe.
All their goals were the same. Wing backs getting free and crossing for 3 clinical finishes. Ellis only saved 1 shot I can remember and that was from a defensive mix up at the end.

Encouraging signs from our young team and when our established players return hopefully this will bring stability and goals.

See everyone Saturday

Comment from a Salford lad close by that most of their lads were on contract, said that there is no shortage of funding available !!.

4 of their team last night were trialists, 4, 6, 8 and 10. I thought they were excessively physical in the first half when we were on top and then mainly seemed to drop the level of roughness. And Justin gave one of their players a taste of physicality into the side hoardings near the end of the game!
A lot of plus points last night but not a lot in the final third.
Alan, trialist 11 was Siam Mohamed who played a couple of games at the end of last season, definitely against Widnes and is ex Vics.

We've lost some very important attacking players with Kenzie, Callum and Joe so that is going to really affect our attacking play as players like that aren't easily replaced
