Good luck to them. I know they are a "different "club, but it would be nice if the current Macc FC acknowledged that, morally, they should allocate some portion of the current revenues to repay the debt owed to the Revenue by the old regime (and to all taxpayers)

Connett didn’t, Rushe didn’t.

Morally wrong in many respects but that is the law of the land.

Macc are getting their biggest gates ever…including when they were a league one club. I think the low admission at this level is a big factor though. Always remember them as a 600/700 club at NPL level in the 70’s, they didn’t qualify for the APL and struggled until Chester sold up and ground shared with them which helped them move on massively and brought the Moss up to FL standards. Since then they have lived the dream and been very lucky to bounce back after much help from the council and more recently their new owners. It will be interesting to see how they progress….football has a habit of going full circle sometimes….there are clubs far bigger than Macc in the lower leagues. Time will tell!

The law of the land it may be ,but it doesn't mean it's right. The way in which clubs run their affairs seems to be a mixed picture and the body overseeing matters (the FA) could do far more to ensure that all clubs act fairly, particularly with regard to paying their debts promptly (to the Revenue in particular). When they do not, in the event of the club going bust or into administration, no reformed club should be allowed until all previous debts have been cleared (imo). Far too many reformed clubs seem to emerge debt free, but are able somehow to be able to access assets of the failed club.

Archie - i suspect that we are vehemently agreeing with one another here! I don’t agree with how clubs with huge debts accrued through massive mismanagement can miraculously re-appear whilst its creditors are left in limbo and more often than not suffering significant financial losses themselves.

I still think its wrong that cwac rent out a ground to chester but do nothing for other clubs in the cwac area, guessing its a similar thing going bust then seeing the council coming to the rescue.
Luck of the draw Phil….one rule for one and one rule for another. It is outrageous to be honest…I am looking forward to playing Macc next season and reminding their fans of their bail outs…if the subject crops up of course! I suspect many of their ‘new’ fans have no clue of their past though…..
