That’s the point Nicki.

Let people regardless of age decide for themselves.

No one is better placed to decide what’s best for themselves more than the individual. It’s a bit patronising to suggest you know what’s best for them more than they do.

Yeah it would’ve been. If only I’d done that.

What are we waiting for to play?
Coronavirus is not going away and will be with us forever.
If the board do not have the resources to play football matches then we may as well pack up?

How many of the parents came from an area that is in a named covid hot spot Joe?.The club is doing the right thing ,protecting the local community and I for one fully support them.
That is not the reason the board gave for cancelling the fixtures!
Read the statement again -

"You will recall our Macron Cup game at Runcorn Town was unfortunately suspended due to the shared concerns of Halton Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council. Understandably, these councils are very concerned about the potential of football crowds to increase the spread of the disease across regional lines.

"As a result of the decision to suspend last Saturday’s cup game, 1874 Northwich have been in daily communication with the relevant authorities at CWAC, who have provided a comprehensive guide to the conditions that they require to allow football to proceed in Cheshire West.

"Cases of coronavirus are increasing in Cheshire West.

"Given that events are changing on a daily basis creates significant problems in preparing for a match, implementing new directives in such a short period of time and in communicating important information to all potential spectators.

"In particular, it is very difficult to manage our online ticketing system, which we have introduced to reduce the amount of cash being handled, to reduce queuing at turnstiles and to aid our track and trace systems.

"As a club we are working extremely hard to ensure that we comply with this new raft of requirements from the council, which come on top of the guidelines issued previously by the FA and DCMS that we had to follow in order to start allowing fans again back in August.

"CWAC have made it clear that 1874 Northwich are not being singled out in this respect, all local clubs have been informed of these enhanced requirements and have made it clear that any club found not to be complying may face serious sanctions should spectators be allowed into grounds that they class as not safe."

Why are junior matches and Charity games being staged in CWAC?
Why were these new directives implemented at other games, but could not be at 1874?

The other issues is both Runcorn & Bootle have gone into a 14 day locked so without CWAC involvement then neither game would have taken place anyway.

And maybe a weather postponement for today as per Winsford

Oh dear Joe your spoon has been taken away.

Not really though Toddy. We are still due to play an important Vase game next week. The Covid situation isn’t going to change in a week, so all of Joe’s points still stand.

Boris Johnson is urging people to go to the cinema but supporters are still being told they can’t attend matches in outdoor football stadiums.

It is complete and utter lunacy.

Par for the course Ben. They’re making it up as they go along. Why would we expect anything different from a government of corrupt clowns being run by the biggest corrupt joker of them all... and his unelected mate of course?;)

Fans of both clubs, and players from both clubs could live or work in such areas. So, what do you propose that they do?

Isn't this about reducing risk to others as much as to ourselves?
It's an unprecented situation in all our lifetimes and consequently there are no precedents so judgements are made as the virus progresses and some things will work and some won't.
Look around for yourselves at the next match and notice the age group of crowds at non league games. Judge the risk to yourselves and act on it but when making that judgement just be aware that you could, inadvertently, contribute to making one or more of them ill. Maybe even kill off one or two.
"Ben
Indeed. I live in Manchester (Gorton) so presumably under the rules I’m not supposed to attend games."
It's your choice Ben, and you will probably be fine but be aware that coming from a 'hotspot' you are a greater risk to those around you. You judge the risk, their problem if you get it wrong?
