Local pubsCAMRA : The 2 pubs I would recommend are the Bard (57 High Street Prescot) and the Watch Maker (60- 62 Eccleston Street Prescot). The Bard is an independent micropub that is popular with Cables fans both before and after the match. The Watch Maker is a Wetherspoons pub that works with local breweries to make sure they have a decent selection of local real ales as well as the national beers they have to stock. Incidentally Prescot Cables also serve real ale in their club bar after the game.
JW points out the Bard may not open until 2pm Saturday but other possibilities are the Old Mill on Mill Street (Hydes Beers) and The Sun Inn (3 guest beers). On the way into town on Derby Road is The Clock Face, a large, imposing property with Thwaites beers and food.
Local places of interestPrescot museum has exhibits of the clock and watch making history of the town. Knowsley safari park is close.

On its Facebook page The Bard is showing as being open from midday!??

Absolutely terrific win and great guts and determination after going behind. With the others around us losing or dropping points, an all round good day at the office!??

And having criticised last weeks substitutions I’ve got to give Bo and Goody huge credit for the changes they made today as both Knighty and Ash made a huge difference when they came on?.

Another thing was patently obvious toys - how much fitter we were than Cables. Some of their players were blowing out of their arses at HT. So again huge credit to the management team for the work they did pre-season with the lads to get them so fit.?

Massive win. Well done to the team, and we’re now showing we are competitive. Delighted for the managers - Goodison seemed really despondent after the last match so a well deserved lift for everyone. Pleased Ash Woods has started scoring too.

A well deserved win that. Very good result, could’ve been more!

Ash Woods was fantastic when he came on.

Definitely feel we are finding our feet in this league now. Just 3 points off the top 10 now.

Definitely feel like we’re finding our feet in this league now. That was a well deserved and big win today. Not the prettiest but it’s the three points that matter and I thought we battered them in that second half. We easily could have scored a few more goals.

The positive thing is that we’re beating the teams who we need to be beating. That’s wins now against Prescot, Kendal, Market Drayton and CoL. A quick look at the fixtures and we have games coming up against Ramsbottom, Glossop and Widnes, all teams around us. A six point gap for us now on Glossop in fourth bottom and get some results against those teams and we really could be in a much rosier position.

Well done lads and up the 74!

Comments above are spot on.

I and a few others questioned the decision to bring Knighty and Ash on but fair play, they certainly got that one right.

Well done to Paul and Wayne. Two managers we’re lucky to have!

Much better today and an enjoyable afternoon at a decent ground and good attendance too. Played more direct and caught Cables out quite a few times especially second half when with a little more composure could have scored more. Fingers crossed for more of the same.

My thoughts were that it was a massive win.
We need to be realistic and make sure we pick up points against these teams.
Bootle upwards are beyond us but we need to make sure we are above the rest!
Wasn't really with taking Turner off but Ash worked his socks off and was rewarded with his goal.
Would love to see them play together.

Who knows!!!

See everyone soon.

I agree with all above and especially about Ash deserving his goal. Similarly Jack works so hard and it was good to see him score too. I would also like to see Ash and Paul playing together - their games are different but I think they could make opportunities for each other. Praise also for the riff raff, never stopped from start to finish.

Here are the goals.

Well deserved 3 points with a decent performance and a really good following, should have been more than 2 1 really, love to get 531 at our home games, decent fans as well and a great day out.
See you all a week on Saturday.
