The act is due to become law later this quarter.
And we might have to tweak a few things to comply with it

I’m currently reading up on the stuff in it & have a huge online safety risk questionnaire to fill in.
The main issues seem to be around sending direct messages to each other & proof of age

If you're interested there’s lots of stuff about it here - https://www.ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/

And as of today it is law

To help comply we have added a Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) scanner to any images that are posted.

We will also need to do something around Direct Messages/Conversations.
They can't be read by anyone other than those in the conversation unless we start poking around in the database tables.

We're not going to be downloading the tables & going through all DM's but we will probably install an add-on or two that allows DM's to be searched for certain keywords that could be linked to illegal behaviour.
If & when the add-ons are installed we'll be updating the privacy policy to reflect that automated searches are being performed

well done Edge, keeping us clean and tidy . This just goes to show the work and effort that has to be put in by our brilliant volunteers . Its not just what happens on the pitch, we all have the same aim volunteers or not and can all contribute to making this club a success. Last Saturday the Riff Raff found their voices ( and drum) again -- fantastic so keep it up !! Lets all be loud and proud, get behind the lads and ensure we all put our bit in to get that promotion spot .
Forza green

To help comply with the Act we’re tweaking a few things, hopefully without breaking anything!

New and existing users with fewer than 5 posts will no longer have access to DMs, be able to upload images and posts will need to be approved by a mod
Once 5 posts have been made then normal access will automatically be granted

Alongside this the report a post functionality has been changed. Now the report will create a post in a hidden area.
And if you don’t have DM access then the Contact Mods button will allow you to post in that hidden area
Posts in the report area can only be viewed by the user that creates them & the mods. You can’t see any reports made by other users

The contact mods button is currently at the bottom left of the footer but it will be moved elsewhere at some point
Now top-right on the home page
