Most of the oldest properties were burnt to the ground in 1650 but one still exists at Cotton’s house in Shropshire Street, but there are many fine examples of buildings since then still extant.
1459 saw the opening battle of the War of the Roses at nearby Blore Heath and in 1835 the Birmingham and Liverpool canal was cut through one of the deepest canal cuttings in the country at Tyrley locks.

A very well deserved win tonight.

We really did take it to them in the first 20 mins with some brilliant football and scored a lovely goal. As the half went on they got more into it, but we went in deserved leaders.
Second half commenced the same with us again playing well and creating chances but the more they went begging the more tense it got and whilst we weren't really hanging on it was satisfying to hear the final whistle.
Some really good performances tonight including Jonah, Jack Irlam, and Jake. But two players showed great character from indifferent starts to the season and improved their performances big style. James Ormrod looked assured and confident tonight as did Big T in goal so both should be proud of themselves.

Also a shout out to our young defender Jack Marrow who also impressed alongside Jonah.

See everyone on Saturday.

Yes a well deserved win indeed. Excellent performance from the lads and we dominated from the start to finish. It was one of the most one-sided 1-0 wins that you’ll see.

Get it right in front of goal and one team will be on the end of a real thrashing soon.

Really encouraging for the rest of the season and fantastic to get that first NPL win! Onto Saturday now, up the 74!

Yes agreed it was a good night but we need to put some of those chances away, it could have come back to bite us, really good following as well.
See you saturday.

A massive improvement on the last league game. I think Ormrod and Irlam provided more physical presence and that helped. Jonah was superb tonight and I thought Jack Marrow did well. The only downside was the finishing which was not good. Anyway it was an enjoyable trip to a nice friendly ground though somewhat nerve racking at the end.

Great night, good performance and our first ever NPL win and clean sheet. Deserved the 3 points, better team overall but a few wasted chances that could have proved costly as they pushed forward towards the end. 1 nil flattered MD but the last 10 was nail biting stuff. Another 3 figure away following, enjoyable trip and good hospitality…onwards and upwards and hopefully our first NPL home win on Saturday.

Make that 10 league places.
