Firstly, Leek are a very good side. Big, strong, well organised & going to be right up there this season.

And we're not.

4-2-1-3 looked good on paper with Fenton at 10 but once again it just didn't work
The wingers end up deep with Matty isolated up top.

Their keeper flapped at a corner & easily saved a header from Fenton. That was all he did all first half
He did even less in the second

If asked to sum up up this season in one word I’d say stale

It is what it is, Leek are a promotion contender and we're just trying to stay in the league, there's a big gap that we need to work on reducing

Yes leek are good but we are so poor at times and 1st half was shocking some players are past it and some are just not good enough and I will say it god we miss big T really do think we we a keeper asp

I agree that Leek are probably most peoples (deserving) favourites for the league.

That said, we were very very poor. Our defence looked like they'd only just met at points today.

“Wingers end up too deep with Matty isolated up top”.

Different players, same old story. Replace Matty with Josh Quarless, Jamie Reed, Jack Irlam.

Can’t understand why the hell Issac didn’t start after his recent excellent showings and why we changed the formation from the one that did so well v Widnes🌞

But I can’t fault the effort or commitment of the lads. But it was men v boys. In the end I was happy to away with 4-1

I was surprised that Jack was subbed at half time, he definitely saved one goal! But having said that i thought we looked much better in the second half with Isaac and Jonny on. It was the first time that I have seen Jonny but he looked ok.

What has happened to the team spirit? Others said they heard players arguing with each other against Widnes and I heard one exchange in the 2nd half yesterday between Matt W and Matty F which suggested all was not well.

Mark T (above) has suggested that some of our players are past it. That could only really relate to Matt W and Jonah. I didn't think Jonah had a particularly good game yesterday but he rarely lets us down. I am concerned about Matt who does appear to be off the boil at the moment, and do agree with Mark T about needing a new goalie. Ellis looked far superior to Tony before his injury but this year he has not looked anywhere near as good. He made one cracking save and 2 other more routine - I think all 3 before they scored yesterday - but then seemed to lose confidence. However, I know we are advertising for a new goalie coach so let's hope that gets him back on form soon.

Leek, especially the no 9, missed a lot of good chances yesterday - I doubt Sefton Gonzales will be so kind next week! But I shall be there hoping for a better display from what is still a mostly young and inexperienced team.

For me it’s not just the players ,who I felt tried hard yesterday, but the way we are set up. All too defensive with passing sideways and backwards far too much again. That’s how we got caught out for the fourth goal. And the lone man up front with little service. Don’t know why any centre forward would play for us. I noted Josh Quarless is scoring for City of Liverpool- hardly got any for us.
Can only hope for better at Clitheroe but afraid I won’t be there - had enough long away travel for now only to be bitterly disappointed.

Seems harsh reading the comments when the context is the opposition are a powerhouse at this level with such a gulf between both team and club establishment in general. Previously our best moments there have been by players who are then picked off by other clubs and we are left with nothing to show for it but to restart again. Also for what it’s worth, seeing criticism against individuals just doesn’t sit right. Last season I made a comment on socials about the team after a result that was picked up by fellow supporters and management and was called out for it. Despite feeling it was taken out of context it really affected me. It served as a reminder that what is written or said about us can impact us individually. So hope the players know it comes from wanting us to do well and don’t take it personally. We are going to need these lads this season, so we win/lose as a team.

We started the brighter and had a couple of good moments in the first 10 minutes. Their keeper was nothing special. I wish we could have tested him a bit more - he was definitely a flapper. A mad 15 minutes saw us 3-0 down out of nowhere. Mistakes across the midfield and defence cost us. We were lucky their striker stayed on his feet before hitting the post at 3-0, as Jonah probably would have been sent off.

It seems we never have just one player have an off day. It seems contagious and we end up with 4 or 5 underperforming. Although we did regroup and had a sounder second half, it was too late. There are some games where you think 'get a goal and we could get on a roll', but that was never the case on Saturday Leek will win the league. They have a set up that is too good for this level and, barring any disasters, they will be in the Northern Prem next season.

Understood Isaac being on the bench, he came off injured against Widnes last week so probably wasn't ready for a full 90. Jamie was OK. He definitely has potential, but probably just needs to look for the pass a second or two quicker.

Jamal did all the running and was unlucky that the ball didn't sit right for him. I think he's playing better now than he did when he was with us last season.

Almost 1/3 of the way through the season. 7 points above the relegation zone, 5 off the playoffs. All things considered, we're doing alright. What we are doing better at this year is beating the teams who should be below us come the end of the season. After losing a few key players over the Summer, I always saw this as a bit of a rebuild year. Hopefully we can kick on with a good core into the second half of the season and finish strong.

Don't think we can argue with that report pretty much correct, still think we would benefit from a real hard man, clogger, moose or whatever you want to call it putting it about in the middle of the park, as said further up they are on a different level to us as i imagine their wage bill is.
