Hancock called Neil Ferguson "an eminent and impressive scientist" but said he had to resign for breaching rules - & wanted police to investigate - so how does he justify his position as a hopeless and incompetent Health Secretary?
Be interesting to know who set up the spy camera and released the pictures and video. Suspect that will be the most interesting part of this incident and that investigation won't be long coming to the front pages

I agree with you. Anyone know where Dom is? ??

Doesn’t fundamentally change anything. The man is a lying, cheating hypocrite who isn’t fit to hold high office. Exactly the same as his boss….?

Whoever decided to leak this to the papers must really hate Hancock. The person also shows complete disregard for the other 3 people in this sorry affair whose lives they have also destroyed, along with their families. No doubt they feel very happy with themselves, but in my view they are as guilty and despicable as Hancock himself.

‘Destroyed’? They are at least still alive, unlike many others who were effectively sent to an early grave by the actions - or inactions - of Halfcock.

But at last Knutsfordian you appear to be conceding the point that this government are full of people like Hancock - a complete shower of shits.

Hancock was foolish to get involved with one of his aides - but he won't be the first and he won't be the last.

The bigger question here is who is spying on minsters of state in their own offices and are their meetings being recorded too? The CCTV camera can't have been placed there with ministerial knowledge, otherwise Hancock wouldn't have been so daft as to kiss his aide.

No doubt this will be heralded as whistle blowing by the Sun, who will fight tooth and nail to keep their source safe, but if this film was acquired illegally, then it's almost akin to the phone tapping scandal and no doubt it will end up in the courts. This could have quite some way to run yet

you're having a laugh, Tory hypocrite caught out and you are looking for another scapegoat to blame. Have you ever heard of cctv surveillance, you can get done for 10 mins overstay at Matalan.

“otherwise Hancock wouldn't have been so daft as to kiss his aide.”

Well others who employed him didn’t think that he was the brightest did they? What was the exact phrase again?????

As I said earlier in this thread, “Anyone seen Dom recently?” ??????

But actually Knutsfordian you do make a valid point. If someone can video a minister supposedly in his own office without his knowledge, then whom else might this be happening to and what information might they have obtained?

Doesn’t get away from the point that Halfcock is a lying, philandering hypocrite - just like his former boss…..

I saw a thread on Twitter - so it must be true - that reports that Richmond House has CCTV installed in a lot of locations. And that on the original floor plan Hancocks office wasn't an office but an open space or corridor.
Which could mean that when that space was turned into an office then no one thought to remove the CCTV that was now in the office.

I think everyone can agree that we’re all glad the pathetic excuse of a man Hancock is gone, but the fact videos from within ministers office can be so easily leaked should be a concern.

I agree Hancock has been caught out and pays the price - but as I said before he won't be the last. And whilst many might be having a jolly good laugh at his demise, it really is small beer compared to what else is being filmed and viewed - and by whom?

If anyone believes the latest MOD cock up that somehow confidential papers were "found" behind a bus stop and handed over to the BBC - then your having a laugh too. Someone has clearly photocopied secret documents in the MOD, left them where they could be "found" and no doubt phoned the BBC to say where they were, knowing, that the route being taken by HMS defender was contentious and was international news.

There has always been a number of civil servants who were prepared to leak stuff to friendly press in return for whatever reward they might have sought - and sometimes they have sought to bring clearly wrong actions to light (like Katherine Gun who blew the whistle on Blair) - but its a fine line and if whistleblowers think they have a case then they should use the internal processes first

And another Johnson lie ??

Bloody hell James - everything that is any way nuanced sits as a lie with you. With all these things there are shades of grey. Price Waterhouse Coopers used to have a way of dispensing with staff known casually as ETL - encouraged to leave. It was a step short of being booted out of the door, but it was made clear your future employment lay elsewhere and technically those those that left ETL were deemed to have resigned. I suspect with Hancock, as in all these things, there are/were conversations that moved the goal posts from allowing Hancock to hang on, to being relieved of his duties. Sometimes its just about treating people in a fair and equitable way that allows the process to be completed without breaking those involved and with the minimal amount of rancour. He has gone. Let it go !

Priti Patel knows all about treating people in a 'fair and equitable way' and 'without breaking those involved and with the minimal amount of rancour'.
