Following a series of positive discussions with the trustees of Warrington based charity 'Ciarans Cause', 1874 Northwich are delighted to announce that we have agreed a link with this fabulous campaign.

On the 17th April 2012, Ciaran went out to play football with his friends. Unfortunately he didn’t make it to the pitch. He suffered a suspected cardiac arrest and, although first aid (CPR) was given within minutes, he sadly passed away.

Had a defibrillator been present he would have stood a greater chance of survival.

Since then, his parents Marika and Steff have established a charirty in his name - “Ciaran’s Cause” - who's aim is to raise funds to supply schools and sports clubs with defibrillators, so that hopefully another family doesn’t have to go through the heartbreak that they have been through.

For the next two seasons, “Ciaran’s Cause” will be 1874 Northwich's nominated charity and any funds we raise through on their behalf will go directly towards providing defibrilators for schools and junior football clubs in the Northwich area.

In order to help raise awareness of "Ciarans Cause" and its aims and objectives, 1874 Northwich are also delighted to announce that the "Ciarans Cause" logo will feature on the back of all matchday and replica shirts.

In addition, we will also be holding a number of specific fund-raising events during the next two seasons and providing free advertising for this superb charity

We woud hope that fans of 1874 Northwich and all followers of football in the Mid-Cheshire area will join us in supporting this truly fantastic initiative.
