Given the announcement earlier today re restrictions in Halton, I can’t see the Macron Cup final going ahead - unless the game is switched to Townfield

Direct quote from the BBC News website “Residents are asked to avoid attending amateur or semi-professional sports events as spectators:
  • Lancashire (excluding Blackpool)
  • Merseyside, Warrington and Halton“

I would have thought that as this is the last remaining fixture from 2019/20 season, the NWCFL (along with the sponsors i.e. Macron) would be keen, if at all possible, to get the match played asap, even if this means switching the Final to Townfield, or a suitable neutral ground not affected by these latest restrictions..

if the NWCFL want to mould it at a neutral ‘safe’ venue, Witton don’t have a home game on 26 September

Ludicrously woolly "guidance" from govt - gov.uk says ...

Those are listed in addition to the "regulations" which "enforce the restrictions". Why not include them in the restrictions/regulations? Does that only apply to "residents" of the affected areas?

On a wider note, this has the potential to affect the whole league programme.

Deliberately "woolley" so that if you get covis you can't blame Prime Minister Cummings and de Pfeffel the worker's friend.

Folks

At this moment, we are planning that the game is on. However we understand that the Prime Minister is holding a press conference tomorrow and we will see if he gives any clarity on new measures. This is of couse, is bigger than 74 or Runcorn Town. Both clubs will take direction from the League and FA and ultimately the local authorities/government. The one thing I know is that everyone will be expected to adhere to strict guidance, as at all games.

As soon as we receive more information, we will let everyone know asap.

The guidance on the Halton Council web site advises Residents against attending any semi pro sporting event. So although we await further advice from HM Government/ The FA and NWCFL, I really can’t see how Town can even stage the game given the view of their Local Authority. One might suggest that given the guidance, they, us and the NWCFL might be deemed as being somewhat reckless if we agreed to the game going ahead

No clarity from Boris so far today for our level.

If we can’t play the cup final I would like my ticket money to go back into the club ( if government decides to ban spectators from attending the rescheduled final) with all the clubs going or about to go under I want our club to not face that situation if things get worse .

The latest is that nothing has changed re step 3 & below.
But how that fits in with the local authority advice is anyones guess

According to Runcorn Town's website (http://www.runcorntown.co.uk/news2.php?id=2458), yesterday's update on Saturday's match states "We have been asked numerous times about whether the game is in doubt with the local lockdown rules that came into force at midnight last night. At present, all we can say is the game is going ahead and will continue to do so until we are told otherwise".

My wife suggested that if the game has to go ahead without spectators can it be videoed and put out live on say you tube ? Then ask supporters to send a donation to the club to pay for the cost. It may not be practical for Saturday but is there merit in trying it for later games? One of her better ideas I thought!

If the club keeps our ticket money then that would be the cost of video of the closed game if that is what happens. The club is more important than a ticket
