As part of 1874 Community activities, we are seeking to support St Luke's Hospice by collecting selection boxes during November.
From 11th November, St Luke's will be using their red double decker bus around the area as Santas grotto. Parents pay for their kids to see Santa and they get a small gift and a selection box. St Luke's have asked if 1874 fans could donate selection boxes. Donations like this minimise the costs for St Luke's thereby increasing their revenue.

We will be collecting selection boxes during November. Myself and Steve Richardson will be happy to receive them and we will pass them on for use in the grotto! Clearly the earlier we can pass them through the better. St Luke's are looking for the basic 99p type selection boxes.

Big thanks in anticipation for another FANtastic effort in support of a much needed and valued charity.

P.s. if anyone is connected with a business who would like to come on board with us in some way in this collection, please let me know.

Cheers Phil Burgess

Hi Phil
Will we still be collecting for the food bank - I’d hate to see them miss out, as it must make a big difference to the affected families
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
Yes we will be arranging a collection for the Foodbank. However, following discussions with them, they have plenty of produce at the moment. They generally tend to be overflowing with donations during the run up to Christmas.
We have said that we will arrange a collection for them sometime towards the end of January or February time. This is when they really need a boost to restock their shelves.
In the mean time any help that supporters can give the hospice in regard to their Christmas Grotto will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Steve.

Chris, as Steve says, we will be working with the food bank mid Jan / early Feb on a collection. At the moment they have harvest festival donations and several events with supermarkets so we can step in when things get a bit quieter for them. So far 1874 supporters have donated well over 1 ton of food to the food bank and I hope we can keep this terrific record going in early 2018.
Cheers and thanks for your support, it's much appreciated.

Are we just bringing these to the games as usual and do we have a cut off date..ta :D.

Hi Blackie. Please bring to games or any 1874 event. No hard cut off date but we would like to have this done by end November as this will help St Luke's in their planning.

Cheers
Phil

Big thanks for the first donations received today. Please bring donations to any 1874 event - game on saturday & race night on Saturday are the next opportunities.

Thanks all.
Phil

Steve and I will be around for donations on Tuesday evening. It really makes a difference for St Luke's and the much needed service they provide.

More thanks due to our FANtastic supporters for their kind donations in recent days and tonight. Steve will be arranging the first delivery to St Luke's in the next few days. We will be available for donations on Saturday, Tuesday and at the A G M next week.
Also I would like to thank the Tow Law supporters who brought donations tonight. Much appreciated.
Cheers all
Phil

Nice to hear donations from TowLaw fans, which shows the majority of their fans are decent people. I actually spoke to their secretary tonight... what a truly lovely man!! Hmmmm.... suffice to say I’m glad we have Vicki as our club representative!!

Again big thanks to our FANtastic supporters for further donations today. Steve has a further load to pass on to St Luke's.
I have been given £15 by supporters to buy selection boxes which I will do next week.
Thanks also to the players for their generous donation.
Tuesdays game and Thursdays AGM are the next opportunities to donate and Steve will keep us up to date on the number of selection boxes donated.

Thanks All
Phil

Following up on yesterday's collection of Selection Boxes, we now have another 138 boxes to deliver to the hospice.
That makes 193 selection boxes in total.
Thank you so much for your response, you are amazing.
Also at yesterday's game our bucket collection for Lillie Mellor, the seriously ill young girl from Leftwich, raised a total of £187.
This money will shortly be passed to Lillies Justgiving page.

Big thanks to the 1874 walking football group - a number of financial donations mean that we will be able to buy more selection boxes for St Luke's.

I will be at the AGM tomorrow and all the games next week to take any further donations.
Great effort with well over 200 selection boxes in Santas sack to date!!!

A further 27 selection boxes from donations and financial donations. Can we wrap this collection up next Saturday please. Any final donations greatfully received.

I was pleased to deliver another consignment of Selection Boxes to St Luke's Hospice today. That makes over 270 in total so far.
The Santa Grotto is proving very popular and the hospice are extremely grateful for the support given by the football club and its supporters.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this appeal so successful.
