Cummings, Johnson and this whole shit show

3 months old but

I think you're right UK costs have exceeded the German cost - maybe 37 times as much?
Funding for the German system is complicated, but it has certainly cost much more than £48 million so far. Part of the testing cost amounts to about £1 billion on its own - from the same article..............

Govt funding for school recovery programme limited to a tutoring programme which somehow a minister managed to describe as world-beating on Friday on Any Questions. Schools obliged to find 25% of costs out of own budget. Schools obliged to use govt authorised providers - who will be paying a pittance to any tutors they can find to work for them while creaming off the rest as profit. All to be done online - no doubt using all the laptops & broadband connections which the govt singularly failed to provide when they promised them a year ago.

Hardly surprising that the govt-appointed advisor on all of this, a hugely respected expert in the field, resigned when his report recommendations were rejected. There was clearly no point in carrying out widespread consultations on what was needed.

But then "reject the recommendations" is another default govt 3 word slogan - see also Patel bullying findings, peerage committee findings ...

Ok so you all know I'm not in the education sector, but I think there's some basic financial management that has gone absolutely awol in the education sector during this pandemic. How can you burn all your budgets on a reduced service, knowing that at some point there will be a reckoning where the education sector needs to step up? Why have education managers not tried to actively manage costs and services? It's quite extraordinary in my view.

This Cummings saga shows that some people believe what they want to believe.

Im not saying that’s what you’re doing, but an observation from social media in the last couple days.

Do I believe Johnson? Not really as black and white as that, is it?

Do I believe him when he says restrictions end on 21st June? I’m not sure. I 100% believe he wants them to, but pressure from SAGE might change that. So if they don’t, does that make him a Liar? No.

When a politician, or anyone infact, sets out to do something, if it doesn’t go to plan it doesn’t make them a Liar.

For example, I’m sure at some point in life at work, you’ve said something will be done for a certain date, and it hasn’t been. It doesn’t make you a liar, there’s usually a good reason you didn’t.

That’s the problem with calling everyone a liar for everything. Life’s not that black and white.

All that I know is that Boris and his pals aren’t too keen on feeding hungry kids and now they don’t seem to be to keen on educating them either.

Thatcher would have been proud of him!

The trouble is with all these accusations of racism etc, some people don't want there to be any redemption for those that have committed these acts/comments because that would open the door to redemption for people like Edward Colston and, put simply, that doesn't fit the current BLM or woke agenda.

Yet there has to be redemption for people when they commit poor or criminal acts. If there can never be any redemption, we don't have a justice system.

People can do poor things, but then see the error of their ways and go on to do good things for society and our country. That is to be encouraged, not vilified.

I think a change of attitude is desperately required in these matters

Completely agree. It’s just that some never see the error of their ways. Johnson being a prime example.

I see that Gavin ‘Frank Spencer’ Williamson is a little upset by the decision taken by some students to take a picture of Brenda down from a common room at their college.

In other news the government are spending just an extra £1.4Bn on helping our kids catch up on the education they lost due to the pandemic - just 10% of the sum that the person THEY appointed to undertake the review recommended.

They also choose to cut the aid budget at a time when the most vulnerable and poorest in the world are suffering dreadfully.

But they can commit £200m on buying a new effin boat and Bns more on nuclear warheads.

Shows where their priorities lie.

An absolute effin disgrace that shames this once great country.

You don't know that. You can't know what he really thinks or would have done differently or will do differently in the future as a consequence

Johnson thinks?

Really?

Not seen much evidence of this over the years…..?????

So he was raised as a catholic, dumped it when it suited him (as is the case with most things - including two former wives and his kids) - but all of a sudden has had a Damascene conversion because his latest shag partner wanted to be married in the faith she was brought up in.

And as for his new wife, she is as a big a hypocrite as he is?

Then again, this is par for the course for this disreputable shower.

I sometimes wonder what the Tory party of the 80’s and 90’s who
espoused the adoption of’Victorian Values’ when it came to moral values and behaviour would have made of Johnson?

You think Corbyn and GetitWrongDaily would have been an improvement? :D

There's hardly anyone in the shadow cabinet that would be a ready replacement for any government minister and as for the LibDems they have just evaporated into thin air with not a peep.

Well Boris was always your man Knustfordian, will you now accept you got it wrong?.
How could have I ever forgotten to post this absolute peach from the Johnson back catalogue?

I wonder if his bessie mate Patel the bully is aware of his views on the availability of hand guns?

I must apologise to our fine PM and withdraw my earlier assertion that he does not think. Having seen new evidence I concede that I was wrong. He does indeed think, this being one such example

Dido Harding has an impressive track record. After losing the data of 150,000 customers at TalkTalk costing the company £60m, she burned through £37bn to produce the shittest Test and Trace system in the world. Now she is in the running to become head of the NHS.
What could possibly go wrong??

And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Labour - Bercow joins the party !!

I have a feeling that there's more to this than meets the eye given Bercow's support for Labour during the Commons debates on Brexit, his rulings on amendments for debate, disclosure of information from unknown sources as examples. Has he come out of the long grass before he was outed?
