Cummings, Johnson and this whole shit show

So you’ve spent the last 3 years saying Cummings is a compulsive liar, but not suddenly believe everything he says?
I think that the whole stinking lot of them are liars. It’s like watching cats fight in a sack.

So no I don’t believe everything he said, but such was its detail that a great deal of the evidence he gave was true.

Let’s flip the question on its head. Do you think that Johnson, Hancock et al told the truth?

Because the "lying" tag has been thrown at everything for so long, it has now become such a dense fog of claim and counter claim that ordinary people can't see through it to understand the real position. Even you James can't believe everything he said - so where is the line, the limit, the boundary of real truth versus his view?

The consequence is that despite all the hype and press inquisition, nothing will happen and nor can it until we cut back on the rhetoric and get a balanced view on what happened

This Cummings saga shows that some people believe what they want to believe.

Im not saying that’s what you’re doing, but an observation from social media in the last couple days.

Do I believe Johnson? Not really as black and white as that, is it?

Do I believe him when he says restrictions end on 21st June? I’m not sure. I 100% believe he wants them to, but pressure from SAGE might change that. So if they don’t, does that make him a Liar? No.

When a politician, or anyone infact, sets out to do something, if it doesn’t go to plan it doesn’t make them a Liar.

For example, I’m sure at some point in life at work, you’ve said something will be done for a certain date, and it hasn’t been. It doesn’t make you a liar, there’s usually a good reason you didn’t.

That’s the problem with calling everyone a liar for everything. Life’s not that black and white.

But the whole point I have been making for so, so long is that right from the outset of the Brexit campaign those who have lied have not been sufficiently challenged or scrutinised or held to account and therefore many people have just accepted that this is now the norm and have become desensitised. Cummings was the architect of the £350m NHS lie, was a hypocrite when he went to BC and is someone I would not trust.

But the example comes from the very top and time and time again Johnson has found to be a liar. Anyone who thinks otherwise should read Max Hastings latest article re Johnson and his handling of the Covid virus

Sat here watching QT with my long suffering wife - who is definitely in the centre when it comes to politics - and whilst I was composing my last message she - completely unprompted - said exactly the same re our politicians lying now being the accepted norm ☹️

Again, Halfcock lies brazenly to the HoC.

They really cannot help themselves. Lying and boasting is their default position.

In years gone by, lying to the HoC was a resigning matter. Not nowadays it would seem.....

It has become desensitised because it has been bandied about so much - incorrectly in my view. I have said ages ago that the time would come when because some people were calling everything a lie, people would not be able to recognise when that really happened. Politicians may be incorrect, but it doesn't mean they are lying !!! It has now become the norm for television pundits to use the same language - and they are rarely pulled up about it. It is absolutely wrong and needs stamping out. MPs who blatantly lie should be pulled up by the speaker and kicked out of the House, but calling everything a lie needs to stop !

But is it a deliberate lie, or has he been misinformed by his department? How would he know how many jabs are being dispensed he isn't there to count them?

If it's deliberately misleading the House, the Speaker should call him back and make him give a correction and an apology

FFS. He is literally the Health Secretary. I'm thinking he might have access to the numbers before I see them on the NHS website.

What if the Independant are talking about the town of Bolton with a population of 120k, and Hancock is talking about the metropolitan borough of Bolton with a population of 300k.

The reality is the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton has possibly achieved the numbers Hancock is stating.

I don’t like Hancock, but I trust most media outlets just as little as I trust him.

The only numbers available from the NHS site are for the area.

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations?areaType=ltla&areaName=Bolton

Given that Bolton is a hot spot you'd expect him to be referring to the town & if not then make that very clear.

Edge. He’s not ‘literally’ the Health Secretary. He is the effin Health Secretary! If he hasn’t got a scooby’s about the figures, then who the hell does?

Jesus. He was boasting that over 10000 per day were receiving the vaccine. The figures show that on the best day it was circa 3.5k (still a very commendable achievement) but the average was around 2.5k per day.

So at best he was saying that vaccination rates were one third of what he said they were, at worst a quarter.

Given the accuracy of the vaccination data thus far - upon which most of us have great faith in - are you seriously saying that in this single case Halfwit has been fed duff info by the NHS, senior civil servants and the likes of Chris Whitby etc???

At PMQs yesterday Johnson had an ideal opportunity to answer all the questions put to him by Kier Starmer and put this issue to bed (hopefully one that he and Carrie actually paid for themselves)?

But as is always the case, rather than providing a straight answer he side-stepped and evaded them, blustered and acted like a spoilt child who had been told off and was having a strop.

But there are more questions to answer, as SKY have pointed out.

Woops another example of Labour going to war on something that they thought they had on Boris, only to find out that he has done nothing wrong. Endless pages of wild accusations that have come to nothing. Starmer blustering at PM questions, shooting what he thought were death blows from a snipers rifle only to find out now that he had been using a pop gun.

When will they learn? They are spending endless time, energy and kudos on stupid battles and then when the real issues arrive they are a spent force.

Labour need a massive shake up. Lose the next by-election and it could happen

Labour are just a glorified student protest group at the moment. Absolutely shambolic excuse of an opposition.

James - just ask yourself - does it really matter? Most people in this country think the vaccination programme to be a roaring success. Hancock has made a mistake. Is it going to change the course of the pandemic? Is it heck as like. More bullets wasted and back to the pop guns for Labour.

Yes it effin bloody well does! At least to me and thousands of others who can’t abide the manner in which those at the very top of our government lie on an almost systematic basis.

Ask yourself, if this is the example they set, then what does this say to the younger generations? And what image of our country does it portray when we are trying to win friends in this post-Brexit climate (although no doubt Mr Orban would have probably felt at home when he met Johnson yesterday ?)

I loathed Thatcher and many of her cabal for many reasons, but I always took the view that the likes of Whitelaw, Pym, Howe and even Tebbitt were all honest men.

These bunch of charlatans, spivs and con-men could not be further from the Tory party of the 80’s that I (unfortunately) grew up under
