And it's the FA Vase tie v West Auckland on the 5th December.

Given that lockdown runs until the 2nd then I can't see either team training before the match.

I'm sure Wayne said last night that they'll train on the Thursday 3rd. But he wasn't happy if our first game was the 5th.

I'll just repeat my question from last night, when we play our next game in the Vase can we have a centre forward that plays that position. I think he said Joe still has 1 more match to serve on his ban and of course Ashley Woods is cup tied.

I mentioned this because Aaron was our centre forward last time and roamed all over the field. I hope he plays Taylor up front as I think we need a focus, not a target man, but a focus. Sometimes in the Harrogate game we got down the wing with nobody in the box.

Will just be glad to see proper football again!

Joe O'Brien or Joe Woolley are other options I guess.

And Joe O'Brien took his goal well against Sandbach - but on the basis of that cameo it would be a bit risky! What about a training session "friendly" with Barnton on the Thursday as they will have their first round match on the Sunday I assume

Shame.

Rylands throwing a lot of money at it at the moment.

Spending a lot of money and not making many friends in the process (just take a look at what they did to the Rylands Rugby League team).

You’d think that Barnton’s 1st Round tie would take precedence here? While protocol says the senior club has priority, wouldit not be wise for the FA would move to ensure all 1st Round ties are completed first. Barnton playing Sunday might run the risk of an unfit pitch, postponement and further competition delay?
Obviously this would involve logic being applied by the FA .........

Providing we can play again after the 2nd, I think we should be trying to get as many games in as we can, as who knows what’s going to happen going forward. So yes we should start asap as other leagues have already decided to. There’s already talk of another lockdown in January, so all the more imperative to get games in.

The issue is as, GoBo pointed out on Thursday evening, that players (at any club) need another short preseason again to get back up to speed and avoid the injury niggles which might arise if we go full on straight back into the season.
We do indeed need to get as many games in as is practically possible once we get the go ahead, but I fear (resurgence of Covid apart) we may well be stymied by winter weather, availability of opposition, not to mention the practicality of assembling a regular consistent starting eleven, if in an effort to make up for lost time there is a quick turnaround of fixtures.

Appreciate that and proper training isn’t really possible at the moment, but I’m sure the players have been doing their bit to keep match fit.
One thing I’d do straight away if I were the FA would be to scrap the Vase. It won’t happen as they have no common sense.

More likely to scrap league programmes than their own competitions to be honest.

I’d much rather get the league done but yeah you’re probably right knowing them!!

The NPL have already extended their season - by a week I think. I wouldn't be surprised if the NWCFL doesn't follow suit.

And you'd hope the Mid-Cheshire Senior Cup can be binned to save a few more dates.

The MCDFA have scrapped the Saturday competition for the likes of Middlewich & Lostock so I'd think the Senior Cup will follow suit.

Just for info

The Mid Cheshire Senior Cup will not be taking place this season.

The League season will be extended and we are just in the process of agreeing the Vase match.

More information will follow over the next day or so when all confirmed.

If lockdown is lifted on December 2, the lads will get one hour's training before the important FA Vase tie, as long as the training facility opens. Not the ideal scenario....

The 12th June had been mentioned as a possible end date for the season.

We need clarification urgently on whether tier 3 clubs in our league can have spectators as elite clubs can’t. If they can’t, I don’t imagine it will be viable for them to play.

There’ll be no clarification about any of what was discussed today, until Thursday ..... and even then, it would not surprise me if details are vague and sketchy.

The fixtures until June are on the NWCL website. Interesting finish to the season with awaydays in Congleton and Whitchurch. You'll get no sense out of me on those matches!! Wait for it,..........

Yes, sadly you’re probably right, not that it’s good enough. Unbelievable that in the government guidance I’ve read, there’s no reference to whether spectators of tier 3 clubs are allowed to attend non-elite games. There is for spectators of elite clubs.

Suppose that’s what I’ve come to expect of the various authorities and their attitude towards clubs at our level. You’d really have thought they’d have an answer and be more prepared.

Just seen someone tweet this, so maybe guidance stays the same regarding non-elite football, including for tier 3 areas.

“Spectators at non-elite sports will be able to attend events in line with Covid-secure guidance for each tier.”

Not sure about travelling but no travel ban that I know of in place so presumably there will be advice again, but not clear if away spectators will be allowed to attend games.

I’ve now seen an FA statement that confirms non-elite football can return with spectators in all tiers.

Well that’s how I read it. An extract from their statement.

The elite leagues are talking about 50% of capacity up to a max of 2000/4000 depending on the tier.

Potentially then the 300 cap we have might be lifted.
