NPL Watch 23/24

Looks a tidy player - can see why he’s binned 74 off (twice).
Connection with Goody and certainly more £ and better ground would have probably swung his decision!

First time round was to see if he could play at a higher level (plus more wing) - something you can’t blame the lad for

Interesting to note that 4 of Leek’s championship squad are ex 74 players ditto your own. Joe Woolley scoring for fun now at Bootle too.

Imagine where we’d be if we’ still had those 8 players plus Jack Marrow Jonah and Wools?

Much higher up the table that’s for sure, but I’d hate do see what our bank balance would be! 😳

It's just a conversation.

If ever there was a time to have an injury crisis, its when you've already won the league...

Not denigrating Albion’s performance as I wasn’t there, but re Leek it might have been a case of taking their foot off the gas.
think you are probably right there James , clubs need something to fight for at this stage of the season which is probably why Hednesford stepped on the gas when they bullied Witton off the park end of last month .Leek are crowned Champs anyway so Witton probably got a pass, their bigger game is Saturday against a bang in form C of L.

Our last four league games have all been of equal importance.
Literally 4 cup finals.

Witton miss out on the play-off on goal difference
And Kidsgrove finished 3rd bottom which is pretty impressive when they got 21 points from their first 7 games. 18 points from the next 31!

We dominated most of the game and suffered some (lets say) unusual refereeing decisions, but in the end could not find the second goal that would have taken us through. We gave it a good shout on and off the pitch, so no complaints really. Where we really screwed up was a spate of heavy defeats at the end of last year - Trafford, Stalybridge, Prescott, Leek come to mind where we imploded and never recovered the goal difference that in the end proved crucial. As its been said elsewhere, getting relegated is the easy bit but getting back up is somewhat more difficult. Happy holidays all

I’d say that your more recent defeats at Hanley and Hednesford cost you your play off place

Those certainly didn't help, but our form pre Christmas was poor at best.
Yes we gave ourselves a mountain to climb after such a poor start to the season. Did well to recover and get within reach of the play offs imo, just a bridge too far in the end.

Good luck to 1874 next season also.

But you really ought to have picked up some points from these two games. Hednesford came to our place in mid-March and we’re truly dreadful. Won 1-0 but we had our keeper sent off after 3 minutes and they scored from the resulting Free kick.

And 3 days later we lost 1-0 to Hanley at Estadio Townfield and they were equally as awful
