ARE WITTON IN FREE FALL

I don't disagree Toddy. Not sure what's happening though as all non league clubs seem to be suffering the same fate !!

Lets hope it does not continue Kutsfordian,or some club's will go to the wall.I say this through gritted teeth, your manager and player's deserve a good gate against Chester.

Chester will bring a fair number I expect on the basis that they expect to win. As for support from our own town, I have my fingers crossed more in hope than anticipation.

May I also add that the town needs the rivalry between Northwich and Witton to generate interest and passion in the non league scene and help improve gates, Hence my recent comments about the teams on the green side of town

Under 200 is shocking and as for Alan Lowe (whs) well glad he's a wittoner
Has a lot to say, don't go on their forum but if he has said we are thieves could we do something about it

214 for a league match when your 4th, playing well and have games in hand to go top, then 194 for an important cup match!
I say let them carry on with the fine job they are doing! :D.
They will get a good crowd against Chester and think all is well, but let's face it, rudheath social could pull a good crowd against Chester!! :p.

I hope that they do pull in a decent gate v Chester as this might show that there is a future for football at a local level.
But given the timing of the game - just before Christmas - and the fact that the FA Trophy is no longer the draw it used to be - I suspect that there will be less than 1000.
Likewise, if we pull in anything around 220 for our clash against top of the league Runcorn Town, I will be delighted.
Unfortunately, as I said in my earlier post, watching your 'local' team live doesn't seem to have the attraction is once did.
Shame - because there is nothing better on a winter's afternoon after having had a couple of pints than watching a game of footy at whatever level.

The voice of reality Atticus well said. I'd take a punt at around 850 at WP on Saturday.

Would agree with that Paul.

Massive shame though. Reckon if it was played the week after the 3rd Round of the FA Cup - which was when the First Round of the Trophy was traditionally staged - you would have pulled in easily in excess of 1000.

Think that you have a real chance v Chester. They will be not looking forward to a potential banana skin on Saturday.

Just hope that you bust your gut against them on Saturday and are so knackered that we can give you another good tonking a week on Tuesday as we did last April!

Yes it isn't the best timing but I am really looking forward to the game. As you said you can't beat a good local game, a few beers with your mates - happy days. It's a real shame there are not the same numbers that there used to be but that's just the way it has gone unfortunately. So easy for families to stay at home now with unlimited access to games in the comfort of their own home. Shame.

Chester will not fancy this one that's for sure. As for the MCSC game can I do my prediction now? 1874 0 Witton 8 :p

You could say our own gates are pretty poor considering we're near the top of the league, yet getting attendances of barely over 200. Yes we play a league lower, but crowds are still down considerably on previous seasons. So I'm not going mock Witton too much!

Think we are lucky to get a hardcore of around 200-240 at this level anyway
True, but we should never take that hardcore fan base for granted and we should always be looking to try and grow our support. Fact is our crowds are down by 100-150 on what we were getting a few seasons ago and that's worrying.

Yes, some factors for the decline are beyond our control to a degree - i.e. less interest in local football generally and where we play, but other reasons such as style of play and the whole "match experience" at games and getting the message out about everything '74' generally is very much in our control.

I'm not saying nothing is being done though and that people aren't working hard, as hopefully with the forming of this group to explore ways of increasing crowds, people will come forward with ideas which could help increase gates. As a club, I feel we should always be looking to grow and better ourselves.

Fabulous performance by the Albion today with Chester escaping (and believe me Chester are lucky that they are still in the cup) with a 1-1 draw. Looks like Tuesday's game will now be New Year......

Do I read right Barlow saying Witton are playing well , as he NOT had a drink .! About '' gates'' , yes ours are rubbish considering how the team are playing ! But you people seem to be obsessed with our business, since when have ''gates'' won you points , if relevant Man Utd , then would win everything all the time , cos no-one can compete with them ! However well we played today , I do not expect us to beat them at Chester , we will make 'a few bob ' but our main aim is the play-offs , I, like most Wittoners want promotion , that is no disrespect to you,
Barnton , or Vics , good luck to you all , Carl says he might give me & Murph a game against you !

There's one thing for certain Flavell if I have a drink you would not have bought it.By the way are you still selling drugs or smoking it if you think you could ever play football.

We can wait. ;):scarf:
Oooh nicki you little minx!! We could be league and trophy winners by the time we play you!:cigar

Have to disagree with Flav, I think we will win at Chester on Tuesday. It was brilliant to see a top cup game in Northwich today, a bit of a throw back to the good ol' days!! ;) And a good result for you guys too, credit where it is due .
