League Cup Draw

Another tasty derby to look forward to then! Would people prefer a few good cup runs or focus on the league?

Good question personally i would take another top 4 finish and hopefully win some silverware this season am sure Streety has other ideas though

I think it'll be a lot harder in the league this year and we'll do well to get into the top 4, I think that we should give priority to winning a cup or two this season.

That's the attitude Josh, right the league off before even a balls been kicked.

I think that the BS pitch will always be too much of a hindrance to us winning the league tbh but that doesn't mean that I don't have the belief in our players to give it a go, I would just rather us try and win a cup (or 2) this season and we are more than capable of doing that

You can never give priority to a cup competition at the start of the season, depends on how the draw goes and how the season develops. I don't think for one second that Streety will start the season writing off ANY competition, nor will the lads, they'll want to win everything that we are entered in and the team that Ian selects in every game will be the one he thinks has the best chance of winning that match. I for one think that the squad we finished with last season, with a few tweaks is more than capable of mounting a serious title challenge as well as good cup run and hopefully some silverware!

Any silverware would be good regardless of how big or small.
Mid Cheshire senior cup would do me!
....and top 6.

There's no doubt that the manager and players will have the attitude of trying to win everything but I'm just saying that I believe that the BS pitch will prevent that from happening (whether it be the cancellations like we got last season or just the general unevenness of the pitch)

Agreed that the pitch upset our season this year but I wouldn't right us off completely just because of that. Its players scoring goals that win games at the end of the day, and if we learn to do that at the BS when the conditions might not be so great, then were in for a cracker.

Streety has said on numerous times that he wants us to play a quick pass and move style which isn't possible on that pitch, too many times last season we tended to just hoof the ball forward as quick as possible and against a solid defense it doesn't work.

Then again both GNE (in the vase) and Colne (league) both completely outplayed us on that pitch so it might just be about building the confidence to play on the pitch exactly as we want to.

The same Glossop that we beat 1-0 a fortnight earlier on the same pitch?

Yes the pitch isn't great, yes it affects us and yes Ian Street isn't a fan of the pitch (to be honest, who is?). Does that mean we haven't got a chance to go up? Of course not, difficult yes, impossible, no.

I'd like us to go with the attitude to win everything like Jack Owen mentioned before. Look at where it got Glossop to last season. I'm not saying we'll replicate what they did if we adopt the same attitude approach, but it's a more ideal way to approach games.

The Barton Stadium pitch won't stop us winning Silverware, our record at home is incredible, im sure we have only lost a few games in two seasons, if the work we have done this closed season comes off, we wont have as many postponements and the pitch's quality will be maintained over the winter months.

Just saying though, the style of football, I've seen us play some great passing football at home, maybe now and again we have to use the long ball tactic, but all is good when Mike Brandon is the best target man in non league football :)

Be optimistic, its going to be a great season!:scarf:

The same pitch we beat GNE in the league on...Positives Josh!
