Anybody fancy a bike ride?

It's not the one the day after the beer festival is it?

To kick of our support for the Neuro Muscular Centre we are putting together a team to take part in the Great Manchester Cycle. This is a 26 mile cycle challenge on closed roads in Manchester City centre.
The date of the event is 28th June, the day after the Beer Festival.
I will provide more details shortly, but if any one fancies a great day out, with thousands of other cyclists please get in touch.
Hopefully we can build a team of around 10 people, and as soon as I get numbers I will sort out registration.
Don't be put off, this is a challange not a race. Believe me, its a great day out.
Thanks
Steve

Certainly sounds interesting Steve

I've checked out the course map. Any idea what sort of elevation is involved; moderately flat or does it involved some element of climbing?

Tez,
I've done it 3 times. Twice at 26 miles and once at 52.
Its basically flat, gently downhill from Etihad to Old Trafford, then gently uphill on the way back.
The 26 mile does the loop twice.
Feed/rest areas at both stadiums if required. Its a great day out.
Can I tempt you, make a weekend of it with the beer festival.
If you need bike transport I can probably help.
We have charity places available, so we can waive the entry fee, just looking to raise as much cash as possible and have a good time.

Your chance to be 1874's Wiggins.
See me on Tuesday night and I will get you registered.
Free charity places at the moment, but they won't last long.

Is the idea that 1874 try and ride the course as a group?

I would certainly like us to ride part of the course as a team, I'm looking at getting t-shirts printed and it would be good to show our presence and get some good photographs. Naturally people will ride at different speeds and are free to do theit own thing, however I will make sure that no one gets hung out to dry and left alone. Remember this is not a race, you don't have to be built like a whipet. Just reasonably fit and up for a challenge.

Steve, I am already registered to complete the event and will be riding for cancer research, so may see you all on the course.... might even wear some 1874 colours :)

Done this now for the last two years and it is great fun.... if anyone is undecided, then i would say do it... great atmosphere, good fun and a sense of achievement when you cross that finish line.... plus you get a medal and t-shirt!!

Steve, can Nicki throw her cycle helmet into the ring if there are any spaces left in the team?
