74 4-1 Colne

Another excellent win. Playing some great attacking football at the moment. Our best this season. A joy to watch.

Thought we dominated Colne today and could have scored a few more goals. Three wins on the bounce and up to 7th. Fantastic!

The reaction since that Witton game has been superb. A big well done to the players and management!
 
I think we started well but then dropped to their level with too many long balls down the channels.
Second half was a different story. We attached them from the start & battered them.

Liam was outstanding & a great debut from Alfie.
Fenton has found his form again & who knew Jack Irlam was a proper centre forward?

And without Jonah and Josh Quarless, the average age of the starting XI must have been around 21 with ‘grandad’ Matt as skipper 😉😂

We were saying in the pub tonight that on the last few weeks it’s as if a switch has been turned on and our exciting bunch of young players are now playing with real verve, style and attacking purpose. So different than just a few weeks ago when the emphasis seemed to be playing safety first football.

So credit to the players and management team for the change in style and emphasis which has made going to games far more enjoyable and exciting in recent weeks!👍😀💚
 
Not been able to make it to the last few games but we seem to be gaining confidence back again after a tough period recently with a number of defeats and are scoring goals and playing a lot better attacking football, well done to the lads and managers and let's hope that we can continue to build on this now and keep this run going as long as possible
 
Great result and performance today and a statement made. Today was a 6 pointer ….a defeat and there would have only been 4 points between us. Considering they’re 3rd from bottom todays win was massive and we passed the test with flying colours. Although more work is to be done. I am satisfied that there are at least 4 teams well below our standard and today was evidence of that. We can look forward to next season with more optimism and hopefully a good FA cup run. A top 8 finish this time would be a fabulous achievement given our resources. Well done to all the lads …fabulous effort. Pity the total attendance fell just short of the 300 mark but if we keep winning then fans will come back. COYG
 
Apart from the first half against Bootle our performances have been a revelation compared to matches up to the dreadful Witton game.
I was thinking it was going to be hard to watch the rest of the season as some of the matches had been purgatory to watch.
Now I am looking forward again to watch us.
Fast counter attacking football and excellent defensive work from a very young squad.
Special mention for me to Matty Fenton and Liam Buckley although all the defenders deserve credit.
Jack Irlam was very good too.
I suppose they should have scored more both today and Tuesday night but at least chances are now being made again.
Long may it continue. Very enjoyable to watch. Well done lads.
 
Agree regarding crowds: I feel we got some good attendances 300+ where the crowd was 99% there to support 74 and we fell short and performed poorly, it always takes time for these fans to build up faith to come back and watch. Especially after the Witton game, that was probably one of the worst performances in our 10 years and there was 500/600 people supporting 74 that day, win that and our crowds now would be totally different.

Anyway, keep this up and we’ll be back above 300 in no time, Up the 74💪
 
To be fair our total gates this season have definitely improved on last season. Reckon we’ve had 4 below 300 (inc juniors etc) ..yesterday being one of them. Good to see the juniors and parents etc at games this season…..hopefully fans for the future.

Are the juniors included in the attendance figures?

As far as I know the gate includes all those paying etc. so junior teams/ parents etc and maybe some players relatives may not be included…..could be 30-40 I suppose each game. Only what I hear on the terraces mind….

That James I don't know. More worried that it might have me telling their centre forward how much I liked him!
