Thought a thread for this match should be made. Last home game of the season. Let's hope for a decent crowd and 3 points to go out with. I'm going to say 3-1 '74 and a crowd of 323.

On a side note, I can't make the kick off, as I'm up in the Irlam/Partington area, but I can be at the ground at half time. Will I be able to get in then?

Whatever the result, the players and management team will be back out for a 'lap of honour' as it is our last home game. I think they deserve a massive cheer from the terraces!

Lost 2-3 to wonder goals from AFC Blackpool and yet another missed penalty by us how many points have penalties cost us this season i wonder

Just before everyone comes on here and singles out players for their performances...

That win from AFC Blackpool ensures that they are safe and will play NWCFL Premier football next season, whereas, 1874...well...we were 4 points ahead of Colne in 3rd place, with a game on Monday night vs the Champions...

The 1874 lads were more than likely, shattered, its been a hectic few weeks for 1874 playing catch up but they have done brilliantly!

Looking forward to Monday and Saturdays away trips to cap off a great season!

The lads have done all the fans proud once again!

Well done to AFC Blackpool, a spirited set of lads with some good people working hard to run the club!

A little point that I don't understand!..
If the boys are so knackered and we haven't as much to play for, why start with the same 11 all week!!?
5 capable lads on the bench today who have hardly played recently yet we start with those playing their 3rd game in a few days.
Streets has done a fantastic job over the two years, but sometimes, and this time in particular, I don't see why there wasn't the obvious changes needed when players were available!?
Just an opinion .

Actually Brandon, Beadle, Ward, Connor and Ledwards were all rested on Thursday, so not sure what else Ian could do. The penalty was unfortunate, I feel sure this will be something to work on preseason, they have cost us at least 7 points this season.
Well done to Blackpool, two trips to the seaside again next season (and the Shovals!) UT74

A few end of season results today - Colne threw away a two goal lead to draw with Alsager, Bacup beat Winsford and Linnets lost again.
Oh, and witton were one up after 34 minutes and went in at half time 4-1 down :D

We're guaranteed at least 4th, have the 2nd best defence, 3rd best attack so I'll accept the odd blip this season.

Full credit to AFC Blackpool this afternoon. Two of their goals were amongst the best I've seen at the B.S this season. Thought some of our lads looked a bit leggy today, and Blackpool closed and harried very well.
Disappointing last home game, but you can't win them all.
Having said that, its been a fantastic second season and has surpassed my hopes and expectations. Rome was not built in a day, but we are certainly laying solid foundations.

Can someone make the foundations a bit stronger and bury that fooking drum in them!!

Why did Lunn not take the penalty after converting so convincingley.
The lads have done well over the season but disappointed today to lose to AFCB

Not the best performance today but credit to Blackpool, they've improved and look like they're staying up. Looking at the bigger picture, we're third and have earned 19 points from 8 games. Not too bad ay :scarf:

Having been singled out for the dubious honour of having the drum directly behind me in the first half (thanks, Steve ;) ), I can now vouch for the fact that I don't actually mind it that much. The AFCB dugout may take a different view! Though it was good to see a management team willing to partake in the banter.

AFCB were clearly up for it today, and hassled us to every ball, so we were never able to settle and gave the ball away a lot with hurried passes. No doubt the 3 previous games inthe past 7/8days didn't help, though as has been pointed out above, there was a full rotation off the bench from Thursday. And you can't play good passing football on a bobbly pitch, or accurate longer passes in that wind. Excuses over. Their goals were all good ones - I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that first one - in my view it was a good opportunist goal, and yes I know it wouldn't have happened if Matt C hadn't been busy touring the pitch between penalty area and centre circle, but it was a one off and would have got plaudits on MOTD. As would that third goal.

I have suggested the club should pay me to stay away whenever I say I'm coming up. My record is not good. But it is good to catch up with people, even if it means dropping 3 points. And I've got a stack of Birtwisle's pies in the freezer now. :)

Roll on 2015/16. :scarf:

Wow..disagreeing about the drum, and mentioning the bench had been fully rotated, (despite the fact it had been mentioned!)
I bet you couldn't get your opinion in quick enough!!
Btw, the drum probably wouldn't bother me if I listened to it as few times as you!
